Hey BHW

So X has recently rolled out a feature for all accounts that shows exactly where your account was created. This sparks major privacy concerns.

A lot of branded accounts are being ‘exposed’ for not being from where they claim to be - for example high profile USA accounts are actually based in third world countries.

Just goes to show that a lot of what you see on X should be taken with a grain of salt and most of the time these accounts have no interest in the niche - They exist purely to cause hatred and divide amongst users.

You can hide the country here:

Settings > Privacy > About your account

That’s a pretty big change. Location data being exposed could make many account-based strategies riskier - especially for spoofing or rotating accounts.
If I were handling traffic or media accounts, I’d seriously re-evaluate proxy setups, device fingerprinting, and how I’m routing traffic. This might force people to lean more into higher-quality mobile or residential traffic to avoid being flagged.

Is this the same update where they show if your using a VPN now too?

There is a little '!' next to your location that gives a warning that the user may be using a VPN.

Yeah, that feature exposes a lot of hidden truths. Many local accounts arent really local they’re made to push agendas, not actual interest.

Damn, Elon just went and leveled the field again. :D I’m really curious to see how the SMM panels try to wiggle their way around this update!

It’s a reminder to take online personas with caution location tags can reveal how many accounts are really just planted for influence rather than genuine engagement.

It's interesting, my personal accounts are showing my current country, not the country of creation.
Profiles which i use with proxies show location from proxies without issues.

Exactly same here. And because I use the iOS Privacy relay service I get a VPN warning on my personal, which I never use a direct VPN (iOS doesn’t really hide location in my experience).

Try using a residential proxy instead, ISPs get flagged all the time.

It has been fun. Many are having to explain themselves while others are getting suspended.

About a year ago Elon promised to let people remain anonymous if they wanted to, but now he's renegading on that promise.

This is some serious betrayal

Accounts in countries where you can get hurt by posting are completely doomed

instagram has had it for a while too and it was also fun there

IG did this too and it's completely sabotaging traffic on a fresh account. Anyone know how to make it say the account is based in the US? VPN doesn't work. Any help would be appreciated!
