I did this before, used Google ads, but the thing is it is not easy working in news industry, it takes toll on my health. So, this is more bout thinkering how to get traffic easy, rather than monetizing it at this point

My suggestion is to narrow down your niche (eg local news site). normal ai blogs will not cut it anymore, so try to learn ai automation (eg. N8N) to develop an advanced workflow for your news website - u can scale it as well. The idea here is to offer something that adds value to the readers.
Edit : There is a very interesting case study on youtube about how these dudes managed to earn 800k in 2 months using mass page publishing strategy. Leaving the link here in case anyone interested :-

Sure, some human edits and oversight is always needed, but I noticed tons of AI generated content is working just fine, and was wondering to expand my portfolio of sites.

That works for a fast launch, but make sure to edit AI content and fact check otherwise google and readers will flag low quality or inaccurate news quickly.

You can scrape large news websites constantly or just once a day. Create a Python script to do this and connect it to an AI API or a local AI. Then, generate the content in an XML format and upload it to WordPress using a plugin.

You can definitely get a simple ai-powered news site running without spending much. A lightweight wordpress setup or a small VPS is usually enough and most ai writing tools plug in pretty easily. Just be ready to add a bit of human polish so the articles don’t feel too robotic and double-check facts so the site doesn’t come off as low quality. With some steady posting and a clear focus, it can work surprisingly well
