So me and my Father is thinking about making a eSports company the idea is to host gaming and eSports events in Portugal and host online eSports matches worldwide for fps games

I was thinking if you guys know how we can get sponsors and funds and is there anyway to get funds from the Portugal government?

Cool idea, bro! :) For sponsors, start by building small events + a solid pitch deck. Local brands love esports exposure. Check Portugal’s youth/sports grants too they sometimes fund this stuff ;).

Esports is growing worldwide. If your organization gets involved in popular game titles like CS:GO, League of Legends..., you could consider seeking sponsors.

Energy drink brands like Red Bull, Monster, Coca-Cola
Gaming equipment manufacturers like Logitech, Razer, SteelSeries
Technology companies like Intel, AMD, NVIDIA
Sportswear brands like Nike, Adidas

These may be useful to you.

The way your gaming platform offers value to the end user is the ultimate
What end users see is what will.most likely attract sponsors
What friction is your gaming platform taking from users and at what cost are you offering those values

Investors are looking for ways to make more money for themselves, not you

You can do cold email marketing to your local company who wants their brand exposure

It's a brilliant plan—the eSports industry is thriving, and the Portuguese market is strong. My first piece of advice is to get your company strategy in order and establish a modest web presence to let sponsors know where you're going. Early on, it's simplest to approach brands in the gaming, electronics, and energy drink industries. Look into Portugal's innovation and start-up grants as well; they provide financing, but a well-organized proposal is required. Best of luck!

Use ChatGPT to analyse how other people in your branche are doing it now and also think about your marketing strategy, the idea is nice but you need to reach your adience

In Finland, we had a Telia Esports Series. It was pretty popular some years ago, and right now I checked it. It seems it went bankrupt.
hehehhe

They pumped lots of money into many years from different sponsors. I give here links so you can check and you can get some ideas

https://www.facebook.com/teliaesportsseriesfi/?locale=fi_FI

Then there is the Finland Esports blog site:
https://www.suomiesports.fi/
You can check that too to get some ideas.

And it seems we have this too:

But it seems everyone has gone bankrupt, and I think the reason for this is.
Go BIG and go Down Fast.

There are too many expenses for the company and the culture in Finland anyway. That there are many different parties here who take money from time to time. So many companies are unable to stay afloat due to increasing expenses. Therefore, I recommend that you try to keep costs to a minimum if you are making the esports things.

Remember, you need ESPORTS players, brands, and imago. So it´s possible you have to get 3rd partner for that. Who is going to be the FACE of the company. But that 3rd may be very expensive. So maybe it´s not good to get anyone.

Start with local tournaments to prove your concept this builds credibility and makes it much easier to secure both sponsors and government support as you scale.
