Could police track down hackers who have hacked wireless internet in order to commit a crime? Wifi, satellite, ect... if they have stolen wireless internet signal could they be tracked down regardless in what part of the world theyre located?

Yes police can track down hackers who use stolen Wi-Fi or other wireless internet (satellite, public hotspots, neighbors’ routers, etc.) to commit crimes, but how easily depends on the attacker’s methods, the technologies used, and whether international cooperation is required

In reality no, they can get your mac address and add it to the list, once that laptop goes through forensics you're getting done, normally they catch criminals by inspecting the area, not by where the signal went

The crime would have to be pretty crazy to get that level of forensics involved. They would most likely search the vicinity to find who could have connected to that WiFi rather than trying to find the device

Yes, but what you mentioned doesn't uncover location of perpetrator. It uncovers the area that perpetrator operates in if Im not mistaken max you can get out of yagi is 100m~ give or take. Then what they do is inspect the area, if crime is serious enough they will track patterns in the area and uncover who's the perpetrator, but theres no tech that shows the house number where somebody connects to modem.

-Also, I dont know where OP is from, but hacking wifi connection is a lot harder then it use to be years ago, depending on seriousness of crime you want to do, normally booting 'Tails' from usb and installing openvpn on your modem should be good enough security, then you can integrate extra jumps by connecting to sock5, if using vpn dont forget to switch on kill switch to protect your geo if your vpn connection drops.

Most chips on intel and AMD and probably almost all have software management like a secondary chip who have backdoor so don't think you can escape . Windows also have spyware so whatever you use wifi of someone else is not relevant if the big letter agency want you
