I've blasted out over 30,000 comments in the last 48 hrs and I'm only seeing about 12 new backlinks in yahoo site explorer.... is that normal?

You need to give it more time for your comments to get spidered, check again in a week and you should see a lot more, also depends on how many of your comments stick....

ok good... i thought i was doing something wrong... is there a way to index the comments quicker? should i ping the commented sites?

I try to get hot topics posted within the last 24 hours so the chances of google crawling will be greater

Yahoo site explorer is also "timed". Like on Monday-Saturday it can show 43 backlinks but on Sunday it shows 923423

Be sure to put in some effort on your comments, in order to give them a better chance of sticking. With the number of people hammering away with Scrapebox, "Good post." probably won't get approved by many moderators. You can target your comments but still have them be generic for the niche you are working on.

Right now I've been using it to find high PR sites and then manually comment on them. But I may go and hit some focused generic comments for some new sites I've set up.

It does take some time for blog comment links to show up. I have seen it take 2 months to see most of the links. Be patient and put 100% into your backlink strategy. It will pay off.

what about getting your domain blacklisted by askimet?? I'm new to this, so I have been using my profile domains because I would assume that the main domain can easily get blacklisted. Is there a way around that?

I'm still waiting on my 25k profile blast from xrumer which never showed up - It has been a week.

Just don't overblast yourself and keep track or you might get sandboxed.

Don't over rush it, let that many new backlinks index naturally. Also, make sure when doing that many at once, your using multiple domains, all eventually going to the same place whether it's some hub sites, your own domains, articles etc. Get a good mix in there on one blast so you don't go getting your sites blacklisted. For instance, blogger, hubpages, squidoo, ezine etc., which all have KW rich content and anchor text pointing to your moneysite.

It's a tool or piece of the puzzle, not the be all. But an awesome overall tool to say the least.

Do invest in your own private proxies, and use some harvested freebies.

Also, there was another post around here about using url shortening sites you could use to make multiple variations of the same url, but for me I like using multiple hub/buffer sites plus my domains.

Just keep blasting. Use plenty of different keywords, names, etc., along with proxies, and you'll be fine. It's been said before: "If blasting a site with backlinks would get you sandboxed, why don't people do it to their competitors?". So, just keep blasting away, making it all look natural, the SE's will pick them all up in the coming weeks/months, so no need to worry. You can't expect overnight results.

I got my main domain blocked my askimet the other day, luckily it was a new site so Im not out that much. Im going to do it "right" this time. If i harvest URLS would it be best to sort them by PR, manual comment on the higher ones, and then blast the lower PR pages to my web2.0 sites? If I pick say 10-15 of those 2.0 sites which ones would you guys recommend?

It's actually better for the backlinks to come in slowly not all at once.
