Is reddit shadowban permanent?

Is reddit shadowban permanent? Or does it go away in some time?
It really depends on what triggered it and how the mods handle those cases. If its a minor thing, they might lift it, but if its a serious rule break, its usually there to stay.

If it's a misjudgment, you can appeal because shadow bans are usually permanent.

reddit shadow ban is crucial on new profiles register and aged profiles if change with the manage proxies/usage.
reddit not active in some locations which causes shadow ban on new profile register

From what I ve seen, sometimes you dont even realize youre shadowbanned until people stop replying thats the most frustrating part.

A Reddit shadowban doesn’t go away on its own — it’s usually permanent until an admin removes it. You can still post and comment, but no one else sees your content. If you think you’ve been shadowbanned, check by logging out and visiting your profile (if it says “page not found,” you probably are). The only way to fix it is to contact Reddit support and ask them to review your account.
to add on, most of the time they wont review the account so an appeal to lift a ban is very low. visiting the shadowban sub, very rarely someone is able to appeal succesful, and it doesnt seem to be any pattern or strategy, its just that they randomly said "oops our fault" the amount of people on there appealing for months on end with no contact with admins at all. it seems they have also increased thier shadowbanning as well.

No, Reddit shadowbans are not permanent. they typically lift automatically after a few days if you stop spammy behavior.

yea thats the only way people notice, and reddit is very evasive in it. thier shadowbans have been quite heavy handed around the purges, the obvious spammers with hundreds or thousands of accounts i can see why they perma-shadowban them. plus i only ever see 1-2 posts every few months on the shadowban sub that they said, succesfully lifted thier bans.

they seem to ignore appeals in general, regardless if your violation was severe or not, obviously severe means they rightfully did it. but like other instances not so much. been trying to appeal one account since april, but have stopped doing it everyday, because of no responses. some people have been appealing for this long with no answer.

the temporary ban seems to be a very specific instance too, reddit is largely Ai generated content anyways, i suspect they favor certain kinds of traffic over others.

How can one know if it is full shadowban or not ?
if your shadowban isnt lifted in a few weeks, or months. yea those appeals are ignored. some people have been appealing for months with no word for reddit, so you assume it to be permanent. never heard anyone shadowbanned being lifted after a few months, let alone 6+. also if you have multiple accounts and all of them were suddenly hit with a shadowban its a sign they arnt going to lift the ban too.

Yes i found its permanent
same, as most people on that shadowban has experienced, months of no replies you expect a permaban, and reddit has been excessively shadowbanning people some for even no reason too.

It’s not always permanent. Sometimes it goes away after a few weeks if you stop posting or commenting too much.

Yeah, reddits shadowbans feel random and opaque. The system clearly favors certain traffic, and appeals are mostly ignored unless its a blatant violation.

What type of traffic they favour?

Yep, just forget about that account and make sure you always have backup.

They’re permanent if you’ve been actually spamming/promoting, sometimes you can get it reversed by reaching out to Reddit support, but there’s no guarantee and their support is absolutely useless (speaking from personal experience).

Is reddit shadowban permanent? Or does it go away in some time?
It depends,

1. I once got banned 3 days with a big red notice on top that my account is suspended for the next 3 days.

2. A 2nd time, it happened when I got flagged, and my activity (posts/comments) needed mod/admin moderation for a while. (Confirmed by a mod that he explained why my comments needed specific approval)

3. You can get banned/suspended permanently, and the only chance with that is by submitting a ticket, and they might not even tell you the reason; they will say, "We have decided to keep the ban on your account"

If you know you haven't done anything bad, you should make a ticket. Good Luck!

Yes it is permanent like the other said it. There is no restore or recovery possible.

Shadow bans on Reddit are permanent, so try writing to support to resolve this issue.
