My first autoblog was also about tech. There is a lot of competition, but you can still get your fair share of visitors. However, the key is promotion. When I first started, I was under the impression that you can just provide good content and visitors will come. In reality, you need to do backlinking of some sort.
About a year ago, I built like 25 autoblogs and only the one that had significant backlinking earned me anything. I literally had 1 blog that paid for the other 24 simply because it was my first one and I spent the most time on it.
So, you are on the right track in providing quality content, and your niche is harder but not impossible. However, you have to start putting together a backlinking/promotion plan, whether it's twitter, forum backlinking, social media bookmarking, or blog commenting. Without links, you won't get any visitors. Good Luck!
