As seen in several of our BlackHat World forum sections (especially in the Social Media sections), there are very similar threads popping up every other day. To help people make the decision as to creating a brand new thread, or just posting in a thread that's very similar, we've turned on thread suggestions.
How Do Thread Suggestions Work?
1.) Select 'Post Thread' in the section you'd like to make a thread.
2.) Start typing your thread title.
3.) Get 8 relevant thread suggestions based on the title you've typed in.
If a thread pops up in the suggestion that's exactly what you were going to ask, or very similar, you should make your post in the already existing thread!
Why Use the Suggested Threads?
Do I HAVE to Use the Suggested Threads?
Yes.
Now that we have this feature that will help you find a similar thread, we shouldn't be seeing as many duplicate threads come out every week. However, if the Community Team spots them we will continue doing what we are now. We will find a master thread and then merge the new thread into it and issue a post count spam warning.
Please use this functionality!
What if I Spot Multiple Threads with Similar Topics?
Report the thread. Bonus points if you post the thread it should be merged into in the report!
We see your posts coming out about spammers (of all types) and we want to let you know that we are taking this seriously. The Community Team works very hard behind the scenes to get rid of the spammers but sometimes something as simple as turning on the 'similar thread' functionality tool can be a help as well!
Feel free to leave any questions and comments below!

Why Use the Suggested Threads?
- It keeps the forum clean and organized.
- It means other topics have a chance to actually be seen vs. 100 "what is the best X of 20XX?" type threads.
- Those who actually use the search function will have an easier time finding an answer.
