Hey everyone,
It feels like people are using platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and even Twitter/X to search for information instead of just scrolling for entertainment. Some even say Gen Z prefers social search over Google.

Have you noticed this shift too?
Do you optimize your posts with keywords or treat social platforms more like discovery engines now?

Interested to hear how others are adapting their strategies around this trend.

I didn't hear this normal i and others i see use chatgpt to search for response interested if other notice searches on social media

Yeah, that shift is real. Social platforms are turning into search engines, especially for Gen Z — people type questions on TikTok or Instagram the same way they used to on Google. It’s smart to treat posts like mini web pages: use natural keywords in captions, hashtags, and even voice/text overlays. The key now is balancing SEO-style optimization with authentic storytelling, so your content ranks and feels organic.

It seems like platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and even X (Twitter) are becoming go-to search tools, not just entertainment apps. I’ve noticed more people, especially Gen Z, using social media for information instead of Google.

Have you observed this shift too?
Do you intentionally optimize your content with keywords or hashtags to make it more discoverable on these platforms?

I’d love to hear how others are adjusting their strategies to align with this “social search” trend.

Compared to a few years ago, I can't find the information I want to search on Google anymore.

Personal blogs and websites are no longer found, and there are only completely useless articles that strengthen seo for affiliates

Yeah, I’ve noticed that too! People now search on TikTok or IG like it’s Google I’ve started adding simple keywords and hashtags that match what they’d type — feels more natural and helps reach the right crowd.

As people use TikTok and Instagram more for searching, focusing on keywordrich, discoverable content is becoming essential

Yes, social platforms are becoming mini search engines. It’s smart to use relevant keywords and hashtags naturally so your content ranks in social searches too.

It’s not new, but the trend has grown a lot - probably because users feel that Google results are outdated/repeated. People have been searching on YouTube for years now. It’s the same with other social platforms too - if it’s niche content, they already know where to look for it.

Yes the Gen-Z are scrolling through popular social media platforms and also use them as search engines so the social medias have become search engines.

Yes, there’s a big shift toward social search, especially among Gen Z. Optimizing posts with keywords and hashtags now matters more than ever social platforms are becoming discovery engines, not just entertainment apps.

You are right, that change is clear. Platforms are becoming search tools, especially for Gen Z, many now look up things on TikTok or Instagram instead of Google. It helps to treat each post like a small webpage while keeping the topic genuine and relatable.

I have been thinking about this too I have noticed more people using social media to look for answers instead of Google, and I am still figuring out how to adjust my content for that.

They have ChatGPT integrated into their platforms. You can ask it questions like google, but you its primary there to make the platform more enhanced in terms of searching something on there.

social platforms are increasingly acting like search engines, so optimizing posts with clear keywords and intent-focused captions is becoming more important than ever.

There's a reason why several SM's already offer paid ads on search results.

These social platforms are often used by b2b people with high success (selling digital products, get clients) not only entertainment niches. Many people making good sellings every month on Instagram, Twitter X works similar. Only Facebook works slow here to get people buy products from you ,not matter if you use DEM messages or not, conversation is slow on FB maybe in b2b niches the conversation is a little bit better on FB.

Happy Weekend !
