Try to submit 2-3 times. Sometimes it shows couldn't fetch in 1-2 attempt but after that It will successfully submitted.

Happened to me once — site was indexed slower until I added the sitemap in GSC. Submitting it really helps Google crawl pages faster.

I have uploaded a zip file in cpanel, only not activated WP. Hence, not using any plugin.

Try to submit 2-3 times. Sometimes it shows couldn't fetch in 1-2 attempt but after that It will successfully submitted.
