Hey everyone,
I’m trying to find a domain provider that gives good domains at low cost, decent TLDs, reliable service, decent DNS, and maybe some freebies.

Who here is using good providers for cheap domains? Share your go-to registrars (like Namecheap or others), any promos or discounts that work well.

Thanks in advance!

good domains at low cost
define "good domains" and "low cost"! What low cost is for you and me might not be for everyone else... and vice-versa :)

decent TLDs,
define "decent"!

For most people, decent means .com / .net / .org and nothing else. For someone like me, decent means anything that's not .xyz or .cyou and which makes sense or I vibe with. I don't mind using .fun / .top / .ai / .site and dozen other TLDs.

So, what does "decent" mean for you?

reliable service, decent DNS,
I don't know what DNS is, much less what "decent" DNS is, so I won't comment on that.

But what about "reliable service"? What service do you need exactly when it comes to domaining? As long as the domain is yours there's no service that I can think of that you need anymore to use that domain, but maybe I'm forgetting something, so please explain!

good providers for cheap domains
what does "good provider" mean? As long as they don't steal or ban your domain I think any provider is good. And - once again - what is your idea of "cheap domains"?

For me, cheap means anything under $10, for many people cheap means anything under $5, for some people cheap means anything under $50, so what is your idea of cheap?

Regardless, you can find the cheapest offers (for any TLD that you want) on this site:

https://tldes.com/com

And if this database is not to your liking I would say wait for 1 more month until Black Friday offers kick in, and you'll be able to grab .coms for as little as $0.

My go-to (for now) is still Namesilo. Been being with them for nearly 15 years without having anything to reproach to them besides the fact that they're increasing the prices almost twice a year nowadays, which is preposterous and which is why I'm looking for alternatives. But the price increase might not be their fault, I think Verizon or Verisign?? is forcing them to increase the prices...

any promos or discounts that work well.
just check the above link and you'll find lots of offers (along with discount codes too if you click on the registrar's name). Or wait for BF like I said...

For low cost domains, Namecheap is a solid choice, especially for first-year deals. They often have good promotions for new registrations. Another one to check out is Cloudflare Registrar, they sell at cost price, but you'll need to use their DNS.

If you're seeking low-cost domain registration with reliable DNS, privacy protection, and additional perks, consider these reputable providers:

  1. Namecheap
    • Pricing: .com domains start at $6.39/year for the first year; renewals at $15.88/year.
    • Features: Free WHOIS privacy, user-friendly interface, 24/7 support, plus SSL certificates and email hosting.
  2. Porkbun
    • Pricing: .com domains at $10.37/year.
    • Features: Free WHOIS privacy, email forwarding, and a clean, intuitive dashboard.
  3. Cloudflare Registrar
    • Pricing: .com domains at $9.77/year.
    • Features: Transparent pricing, free WHOIS privacy, and robust DNS services.
  4. Name.com
    • Pricing: Competitive rates with occasional promotions.
    • Features: Over 600 TLDs, free WHOIS privacy, and SSL certificates.

These providers offer a balance of affordability, reliability, and additional features. Always check for current promotions and renewal rates before deciding.

Let me know if you need help setting up your domain or choosing the right provider for your needs.

I guess you are looking for expired domains? If yes it requires a bit of research to find some good domains and where to buy them.

most usual is expireddomains.net which you can use.

Thanks for the detailed reply!
By “good domains,” I mostly meant clean .com or .net with decent names, nothing too spammy or random extensions like .cyou, etc.
And by “low cost,” I was thinking under $5 if possible.

Appreciate the tldes link, I didn’t know about that one, I’ll definitely check it out.

I’ve used Namecheap a few times but haven’t tried Namesilo yet. Gonna explore that too, thanks again for sharing!

Thanks, man!
I’ll give expireddomains.net a try. I haven’t really explored expired domains yet, but it sounds worth checking out.

No problem, man!

All domains that are fresh are clean / non-spammy, it's only the non-dropped / expired ones that you need to check.

Regarding Namesilo, I think they're a bit more expensive than Namecheap (for example, their .coms cost $17.29 these days, which for me is insanely high when you think that 10 years ago they were $9). So, in this regard - as much as I dislike Namecheap - I think that NC are actually better.

Also, you will never find popular TLDs (.com, .net, .org) for under $5 unless they're on offer, which is where that website comes in handy as they monitor all offers for many TLDs, so it's worth checking regularly until you buy your domain.

Last but not least, all domain registrars have TLDs like .cyou, so it's not about which domain registrar doesn't have .cyou (they all have this), it's about you not buying it. Literally no one's forcing you to buy .cyou (or any other TLD that you don't like), so it doesn't matter whether registrars have .cyou or not :)

Anyway, glad I could help, good luck with your hunting!

Got it, bro, thanks again for clearing that up!
I’ll keep an eye on the offers site then. Appreciate the info.
