Hi everyone,

I'm using a Facebook account from an agency for over 6 months and now, when I try to publish a new ad, I have these errors :

Promote URL domain Mismatch: The website or url you are promoting must match the domain of one of the urls you used during ad account creation: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=vsin.t16_funny_photo&hl=en&pli=1, https://www.facebook.com/gaming/play/. Please update the url you entered above to fix this issue. (#2490042)

The website URL you are promoting must match a domain you used when you created your ad account.

It's very frustrating...

I sent a message to the agency and they said you need a new account. For this account, we spent over 50K so it has a lot of data.

We have an e-commerce business, nothing related to an app.

Thanks!

Facebook locks ad domains to the original setup, so promoting a different site causes this error. Sadly, you’ll likely need a new ad account for your e-commerce site, but contacting support to explain your case can’t hurt.

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, that's what the agency told me but they already did it the first time and I run 6 months with this account so I don't see why it's not working just now :/

Since Facebook ties domains to the original account, you'll probably need a new one for your e-commerce site. Try reaching out to support they might have a solution or guidance.

It seems that the error you are experiencing is due to a mismatch between the website URL you are promoting and the domain associated with your ad account creation. To resolve this issue, you will need to update the URL you entered to match the domain used during ad account creation. Given the significant amount of data accumulated on your current account and the investment made, it may be worth considering creating a new account as suggested by the agency. This way, you can ensure that the website URL aligns with the domain associated with the ad account, avoiding any further issues. If your e-commerce business is unrelated to the app mentioned in the error message, it's crucial to ensure that the URLs and domains are correctly configured to comply with Facebook's advertising policies. I hope this information helps clarify the situation.

Facebook recently tightened its domain-matching rules for agency accounts. Try verifying your domain in Business Settings and make sure your ads are running under the same verified domain.

Hello guys,

Thanks a lot for your answers!

I'm currently checking with the support to see if we can do something. But it looks like we'll need to create a new agency account :/

So it's because my website link doesn’t match the domain from the ad account setup? If I make a new account with the same domain, it should fix it right?

This error may be because your advertising account was originally created for apps/games, not e-commerce. Try verifying your e-commerce domain or contact Facebook support immediately to reset the domain for the account. If not, you need to use a new account.

Facebook often changes rules without warning. Support might help, but a new account could be needed.

You can resolve this issue by creating a new ad account and ensuring that the domain you want to promote matches the domain associated with the new account. Alternatively, you can contact Facebook Support for further questions.

That’s really frustrating, especially after spending so much. Facebook’s domain restriction is too strict lately, losing that data is definitely a big setback.

Man, that’s rough — looks like Facebook locked the domain, so yeah, a new account’s probably the only fix.

Yes contacting the facebook support will resolve this. There is nothing else that can be done to rectify the situation of the account.

Try clearing cache or switching browsers. Sometimes it’s just a temporary glitch on Meta’s side

That error means the ad account was originally created for promoting apps (the domains listed in the message). Facebook now restricts it to those domains only.

Unfortunately, you can’t change the allowed domains — the agency is right: you’ll need a new ad account if you want to run e-commerce ads.

support is really the only way here. Once they review your case, you can set up a clean ad account for the new domain without running into the same lock issues.

If the advertising company does not take measures to solve this, it is really an annoying problem.

Most limits come from inconsistency or poor history on the account.
You can avoid this by starting with a more stable setup and warming it properly.
Happy to share some methods that worked well for me.
