Multiple profile report + heads up -> New tactic used by bots to spam BHW

Through this post I'd like to report at least 9 profiles, but there are probably several more that will start posting in the coming days.



This kind of post is the new standard for spammers. Since people like me keep reporting their AI generated comments, they are now opting for another approach: creating threads with doubts that they themselves are not interested in knowing the answer. Just ask something and disappear, they never go back to reply, like, react or anything, they just post a question and vanish.




For now it's still easy to detect when AI is used to generate a thread title. They put this different - sign, no real human use that shit, only AI. But not all of their posts have that, which increases the difficult to identify their behavior.

But watching their profiles you can easily identify their spammy intentions. They just want to post any kind of doubt and disappear. Legit, reputable and helpful members waste their time answering a botted question, OP is a machine, ''it'' doesn't care about your answer.



All those profiles shares something in common: they were all generated/created around October 1st. All of them were generated with a name and a surname, same format for all of them.

Please mods, take action about it. It would take more time to report all those profiles, so it's better to create this post, colectively report everybody and give a heads up about this behavior, someone is trying to abuse this forum rules, I don't know if those profiles will be used for scam purposes or if they are going to be sold for scammers, but the intentions are probably not good.

Nowadays, when I see an account that just "joined a few min ago" and immediately starts posting questions like “let me know your opinion on this” I just ignore them.

There are too many... like you said, just dump a post and disappear, no reactions or replies to people who actually take the time to respond.

Most of these questions are also the same ones that have been asked over and over again and instead of searching first, they just post the same thing again.

That makes it harder for people who genuinely need answers because when they search the forum, the valuable posts get buried under all these repetitive and unnecessary ones

Some are genuine don’t get me wrong, but many just don’t understand that it’s often better to search first... you will usually find better answers from older discussions on similar topics.

This is one of the reason, i stopped posting on those threads. Because The question who is asking is a bot and who is answering it, is also a bot.

And this has been going on for quite some time.

They need to ban chatgpt answers on this forum in my last thread I said no chatgpt answers please and I'm still getting them.

If members are not respecting your wishes in a thread where you are requesting services or selling then report them and they will be warned.

We are aware of this gang of accounts, for the record, and working on it but we always appreciate the heads up from the community.

2) upgrade once they reach 100 posts and start scamming
3) create fake vouches for scammers

In other words:

1) Accounts selling just like here we have IG,FB,LI, reddit..etc accounts for sale
2) Scamming
3) Selling reviews basically.

I hope at least our answers can still be useful for people who are genuinely looking for answers and real help, but posts instead of comments seem to be the new trend among bots here, it's a shame

I do hope that there will be a day when the mods surprise everyone with an amazing update to counteract this plague. I have reported some bots too with some success and some failures, mostly going after their basic theory fluff and vague wording like "engagement" that helps nobody. I do agree with just using a translator for messages, no one even cares if your English is bad or not, we are not a grammar forum lmao.

I think the only scalable solution is to redefine what "contributes" to the conversation means.
Reporting a stupid response to a thread with a "it contributes to the discussion" rejection gets frustrating very fast, especially if it's obvious that the comment doesn't contributes anything and that the OP could've asked ChatGPT themselves. Rule 3.5 needs to be adjusted to allow AI for phrasing or translating and not count on it to craft the entire answer.

I suggested a few easy-to-tell signs for spammers but they were all rejected.

i see a few accounts recently - they join
drop 10-11 posts all in a row in the same category
then vanish for a while - then rinse repeat. i do report them.

A solution for the ai problem is having an AI checker for every post.

Not bs fake ones either but a real ai detector.

It's a solution but it won't be cheap for bhw.

Although I'm sure with the leverage bhw has they'll be able to get good terms.

I really don't think there's much we as members can do other than report posts that are obviously pure gpt spam.

I'm going to be focusing almost exclusively on identifying and eliminating these kinds of posts / accounts over the next couple of weeks, just to see if that can make a dent in what we're all seeing. See if we notice any discernible differences.
