HI BHW,

StartHere gave access to his Gmail Account Creator in order to write an extensive review. So, for the past two days I have tested his software to the extreme.

I was looking forward reviewing the product as to my knowledge StartHere's Gmail Account Creator is the only creator that promises not only to create Gmail Accounts but also to forward those accounts, enable POP and enable Gmail's Holiday "Auto" responder.

I tested the software to the best of my abilities. The review below describes my personal experience (other people might have different results). I tested the software without and with proxies. I went through the following setup:

First I tested the Gmail Account Creator without Proxies:

1. Create Account - WORKS
2. Create Account with forward of that Account to another Email Account - WORKS
3. Create Account and enable POP -WORKS
4. Create Account and enable Auto Responder - FAILS (Account is created BUT while the auto Responder is activated only the Subject Line works... NO Content is included

Next I tried to create Accounts while enabling two of the functions at the same time:

1. Enable POP and Email Forwarding
2. Enable POP and Auto Responder
3. Enable Email and Auto Responder

The result of this experiment showed that all accounts were created BUT NONE of the functions (POP,Email Forwarding or Auto Responder) were enabled.


Second I tested the Gmail Account Creator with three different Proxies:

1. Create Accounts - WORKS
2. Create Accounts with forward of the Accounts to another Email Account - Accounts were created but the forwarding was only enabled one out of the three times
3. Create Accounts and enable POP -Created Accounts but did not enable POP
4. Create Account and enable Auto Responder - Accounts are created BUT the auto Responder is activated only two of the three times (only the Subject Line ... NO Content is included).

Next I tried to create Accounts while enabling two of the functions at the same time. Results were the same as above.


Encountered Problems

1. It seems that GMAIL / Google know about most of the open available proxies ... Finding Proxies that are accepted will become more difficult. All Account Creators are faced with this problem.
2. Moreover, it seems that it depends on what kind of proxy you are using to allow StartHere's GMAIL Creator to work properly. (See above)
3. The software does not rotate proxies automatically if it gets a slow proxy ... It tried one time for 20min to create an account until I stopped it manually
4. It seems that if the process is stopped manually the software freezes and the forward email option does not react (screenshot)
   
   
   

Wish List

1. The Ability to change the Name - All accounts were created "Bad Guy"
2. More options for the Email Forwarding, such as forward all emails and delete in this account etc..
3. Fix the Auto Responder...
4. Enable more then one option at the same time...
5. Make sure that it works will all proxies available today ...

What I like

1. The ability to be "stupid" - program creates usernames and password automatically
2. The ability the create usernames based on your prefix for instance I choose BHW and it created BHWJYICZTZ(at)....com
3. Choose to set your own password
4. The many functions available such as forward end if fixed the auto responder.
5. Using StartHere's Gmail Account Creator without Proxies is very fast. However, using proxies the speed decreased ....

Hope that this review enables the reader to make an educated decision to whether the software is the right choice for him/her.

Thanks Nixte for your review. I have taken a peek through the code, and noticed out of my stupidity that when enabling the AutoResponder, I only set the subject line to be submitted. That's an easy fix. To make a note about the proxies, I am currently working on completely changing the way that this account creator creates accounts. This means better proxy support is on its way. It will automatically remove proxies which take too long, or that don't work. The only downside to that is that VB.NET, natively, only supports HTTP and HTTPS proxies. But that's better than waiting 20 minutes for an account to be created.

On another note, I also noticed that when I coded this application, I set it to start loading the next array of settings immediately after the previous one has been submitted. Depending on one's internet connection, this can cause problems when saving these changes in Gmail. This is, more than likely, the cause of the problem you were having when trying to do more than one setting per session. This will also be fixed.

I will also be adding more functionality with username creation, and the first and last name during account creation. I will be adding a feature to allow users to import a list of first and last names which the program will choose from randomly. I will also give users the option of importing a list of usernames, and append a number of letters or numbers to the end (the number of letters and numbers can be chosen by the user).

Thanks again for your in-depth review. Constructive criticism is exactly what programmers need to make their software more user-friendly, and full of great features.

That is exactly what I'm working on doing. It's might be at least a few days before I can finish changing the creation method. After that's done, then the rest shouldn't take long. I would say maybe a week before all of those changes are implemented, tested, and released.

Wow...I'm making much better progress than I first estimated. Here's my progress for v3.0:

New Features Implemented

• Removed WebBrowser control (not using the WebBrowser control greatly increases the speed of account creation)
• Better proxy support (Faster timeout which will remove dead proxies more quickly)
• Username list import
• Append letters and/or numbers to the end of usernames
• Ability to use a First Names/Last Names list (included w/ the software, but can be changed)

Features To Add

• Ability to enable multiple settings
• Fixed AutoResponder
• More options for email forwarding

Version 3.0 will be released much sooner than I originally thought. My goal is to be done in 2 days or less.

As of right now, my software only has HTTP proxy support, and it's not compatible with TOR. That will probably be something that I get into later on.

As a side note, I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm probably back on that one week goal. A few things with the settings have set me behind again. But, techincally, I'm on time with my original goal.

Some unexpected obstacles were run into while porting the Gmail Account Creator over to the new methods. We've found that Gmail sets some cookies via JavaScript. We have also had some bad weather here (Tropical Storm/Hurricane), so we're just now getting back into the swing of things. I apologize for the long delay of the new update.
