First time in Malaysia - first 2 days and both gone bad

I booked hotel online and checkin yesterday. I went to see some Singhs nearby and come in evening. AC was not working and they fixed it till 3am and then water heater problem.
Next days I gave them my room key to clean room and solve all electrical issues and they did nothing. I come hotel at 10pm and room was not clean and no electrical work done.
I request them to change room but they denied. No refund.
I try to complaint at police station 11pm they didn’t hear the matter and said it’s not a crime.
Very bad experience.

This is kinda a typical situation in cheap hotels in developing countries, gotta check reviews on booking before paying for the hotel. Especially if it's not a big city.

Haha yes, they had to fix the sink while we were staying at hotel in Malaysia! So annoying. Still, the room was clean and very modern, beautiful city views from a skyscraper (looked a bit like these yt vids about New York apartments), loved their infinity pool. But yeah, stuff was breaking, terminals were denying foreign cards everywhere and I was staying in the capital, not small city! You go to suburbs in Sri Lanka or local islands in Maldives and you can use your card (to be fair one restaurant in Maldives had a shitty terminal but all other places accepted my card).

Also I think hospitality just wasn't as good in Kuala Lumpur like it is in Sri Lanka or Maldives. Idk, maybe it's because we went to the capital and city folks just don't give a fuck xD while people in these more secluded places care more to make a good impression on their clients? Just thinking out loud.

We ended up not going back to Malaysia and went to Maldives 2nd time. I think I'd still like to visit Malaysia, maybe Kuala Lumpur again or maybe something more beach style... It is a good deal price-wise for these stunning views and big city vibe. But there are cheaper places with better hospitality and working card payments lol.

Which hotel was so bad that they don't clean even?

It was CITI Hotel @ KL Sentral. I gave them 13 hours to fix everything but they did nothing. 2nd night I was very tired and I left hotel same night and book other hotel in cheap price than I book that CITI Hotel. That area mostly running by South Indians, Pakistani people - I don’t think they care about customers.

I didn’t book in cheap price, even I got one better option in cheap price, triple size room, swimming pool and all other facilities.
I booked from booking dot com and yes I read reviews from there, the mistake I did that I didn’t read Google reviews which are not good about that hotel.

That's very unpleasant experience, I would say this is most common cons in online bookings. Old methods are flawless, technology made bookings easy but staying uncomfortable.

I’d try checking out nearby Airbnbs last minute and leave a scathing Google review to warn others.
