My website maybe under attack and looking for any help

One of my websites went down about 2 hours ago, when i woke up the bandwidth spiked from .08 to 324mb. The host was not having a issue and the site was deployed.

I checked another site i have hosted on the same host and it was fine.

The site is completely down in the united states but i can reach it from a vpn from Canada. I am only being country blocked in the usa. I have already checked the domain register asking if there is a dmca or any block they see on the domain.

It is a static hosted site so checking the hosting is pointless.

When i run the geopeeking tool to see domain in many countries, it only renders in 2 countries.

I believe I was added to a blocklist by ISPs in the USA but dont know how to fix or confirm yet

I *think* I found the issue and it was what i thought it would not be, google deindexed my home page. But I have no visible manual actions or security issues. The issue is not solved. Something crazy I dont understand is happening.

Try setting up a temporary subdomain on another server to see if US users can access it, helps isolate the issue.

On pagespeed insight the site loads
I check ismysiteupordown - the site loads as well.

Some sort of attack is happening that doesnt make sense

This issue was resolved.

I believe a competitor ran a DDOS on me this morning which was the initial cause which caused other issues.

I do not think your problem is solved. One friend of mine got similar attack. He got the site back in few hours but the site became dead because of this.

Sometimes your IP just gets blocked by the hoster’s firewall. Contact support if it works fine over 5G or when someone else visits.

It is not a bad idea. When not if it happens agains that will be my next move. I am not 100% if was a ddos but it has all the traits of being it.

- Several (unrelated)domains under same host and only the money gets hit
- Bandwidth spike than a crash
- DNS was jacked up for 2-3 hours before it stabilized
- no issues from registar, host or ISP but the ISP was still using the old ip maybe for dns servers which caused a issue local just to me

The best part about using Clouflare is that it hides your server's IP if you configure everything properly. Additionally, you have bot protection, which can filter out basic attacks.

I confirmed that 2 other people that lived in my same city can see the website now.

I have not confirmed that the person is using the same ISP as me which is where the block maybe. You really cant contact At&t but it was noticable the dns servers of theirs kept me locked out after the dns issue was resolved and site reindexed.

I used claude to check every blacklist site, dns site and lumen to check for dmca as well to rule almost everything out. I have to leave in 20 minutes but I will be adding the site to cloudflare tonight.

I will. Right now the guy i think who did this ranks #1 and i rank #2 on the same keywords but he has 8 other sites on page one. If I pass him and take page one he is so obsessively crazy i think he will go ape s$^$ and exhibit unprofessional behavior more than his normal state of being.

The issue seems to be ISP level since others in your city can access the site and your checks ruled out most blacklists and DMCA blocks so adding Cloudflare is a good next step to bypass potential DNS or routing restrictions

I was thinking about something related to this post as well. As soon as my domain went down the website itself was immediately deindexed and gone from search results within that time frame until i resolved it like someone added it to the outdated query tool that google uses. I have had domains go down or deployments and the sites remained indexed for a least a day.

Its like as soon as the site was verified down it somehow got immediately deindexed, only the homepage while the others remained indexed.

That’s an interesting case it definitely sounds like an ISP-level or regional block rather than a hosting issue. I’d suggest checking with tools like MXToolbox or MultiRBL to see if your domain or IP got flagged. Also, try rotating your DNS through Cloudflare; sometimes it clears regional filtering if the issue is tied to your current IP range. Keep an eye on your firewall or CDN logs they can reveal if any U.S. ISPs are blocking traffic.
