6-8 Backlinks per 1000 Words

My Digital Marketing Teacher told me that building 6-8 backlinks per 1000 words blog post/article is ideal. Is he right? Or are these too many backlinks for 1000 words and may lead to penalty?

you mean internal links? If yes, then yeah, the number seems right, but not sure that it's ideal as - in SEO - idealism depends on many circumstances

There are no set numbers.

However, I don't recall ever linking more than 2 times from just 1000 words.
