After the latest update, Instagram started suggesting gallery content made up of photos in the Reels section, just like TikTok. Is this still happening? Have you come across it?

Yeah, I’ve noticed that too Instagram keeps testing new formats to push Reels harder. Some users still see photo galleries in Reels, others don’t—it looks like they’re experimenting. Honestly, it could be a good chance to test photo carousels in reel-style if they keep rolling it out.

Have you tried uploading a photo set to see if IG pushes it more?

I haven’t seen a situation where Instagram is “suggesting photo gallery content” in Reels like TikTok — most of the new news and analysis is about Instagram optimizing its Reels algorithm to highlight original content and prioritize high-engagement videos.

They are pushing reels more to the front page since that is what people watch. That being said, there are a lot of agencies that are using that feature since Instagram will push content that uses there new features to test if everything is working on there side.

Do you think photo galleries in Reels can really compete with video content?

Yes, its like testing which one pushes the algorithm more. Corousel actually work so good and smart for some creators on instagram. I know of a popular creator that posts only corousel with good sounds and she gets good views

i’ve seen that too, lately instagram mixes gallery content (photos) into the Reels feed, it’s happening more, so people are seeing photo slideshows among video reels now
i think is good as even your content can be discovered more

Yes, it can compete with video content. You need to post the right photo relative to your niche.

Yes, Instagram has been testing photo carousel/gallery content in Reels to compete with TikTok. It’s still rolling out, so not everyone sees it yet, it depends on the account and region.

They've already stolen everything up to this point. Most likely, they'll integrate this into the platform too, because it works really well on TikTok.
It will be interesting.
yeap
