Are Website chat widgets distracting or do they help convert more people?
I review videos from microsoft clarity and I can see what people activity.
I am so tempted to just give them the 'nudge' when they're staring at a certain element for X seconds.
What are your thoughts, would this help or hurt conversions. We are talking about a normal website not a landing page

personally I don't like them (but I'm against all bots in communication, so...)

But I've heard people say that they improve conversions like crazy, so - sadly - they're useful :(
Maybe I should've phrased it differently. Right now I have around 10 daily visitors and I could jsut respond to people manually and push them to a TG channel or anything. It hurts watching people highlight stuff on pricing and FAQ and leave... Feels like that one scene in Interstellar LOL

I thought that - by chatbots - you meant that small box that pops open at the bottom of a page, titled "Chat with us!" I used to hate that thing even 10 years ago when there were real people at the other end of that widget, but now there's not a living soul in a 10,000 km radius, so I hate them even more :D

I don't know what other chatbots there are out there, so I probably can't answer your question, sorry!

Well I'm more than happy to chat perspectives.

What I had in mind is, check what section of the website the user is on and based on that trigger a different pop up that sounds natural. After all I would jump in those chats to begin with so not really a bot. I phrased it wrong.

Like this guy right now was staring at one thing on the site. I could've just said "Not sure of our plan's benefits etc?" I wouldnt be more specific than that because that'd come off hella creepy LOL but at least anything to perhaps convert more people. Hopefully someone with big traffic will pop in and answer my Q

On my site I added a live chat functionality but I use our shop's employees to answer the questions so I ask for people's email to get back with answers to their questions.
Collected a few emails that way.

Now THAT is pretty good to know. That was my OG intention for me to answer it to begin with and funnel them down to other social media

Personaly for me a chat bot is a turn off that bot will not be able to give me more information that if i search myself ..... It may work on older peoples who may think these bots understand corectly what you write to them

I think I will have to edit the post at this point. I was saying that it would be me answering and enquiries when somebody engages with the widget.
