Does anyone know how Amazon (or other online marketplace website) optimizes their website (Amazon.com) for Google SEO. What're their strategies?
Thanks alot!

On Amazon (A9/A10 algorithm):

Keyword-rich titles, bullet points & descriptions
Backend search terms
High-quality product images & videos
Strong reviews & seller ratings
Sales velocity (more sales = better ranking)

On Google (off-Amazon SEO):

Optimized landing/product pages that Google can crawl
Schema markup for products (rich snippets)
Fast site speed & mobile-first design
Link authority (Amazon has millions of backlinks naturally)
Content that answers user queries (Q&A, reviews, guides)

Amazon uses strong technical SEO combined with massive content depth and user behavior signals to rank on Google. Their strategies likely include:

Optimized product titles and descriptions filled with relevant keywords
Internal linking through related products, categories, and breadcrumbs.User-generated content like reviews, Q&A, and ratings, which constantly refresh the page
Structured data (schema markup) to enhance search result appearance.

You bold said that amazon use schema markup but I checked ( or I am wrong idk) they do not use schema

Amazon has lots of things going for them, like they have lots of brand authority, recognition, trust that helps a lot. They have so many backlinks and social signals because of their affiliate program. Many people share those affiliate links and link to them on webpages. Also their site design is great with lots of reviews, ratings and other technicals elements that help their seo.

basics... fast and organized pages with regularly updated content tend to get noticed

Amazon focuses on structured data, product descriptions, reviews, internal linking, and user signals like CTR + conversion. Their scale and trust make them rank well for almost everything.

Amazon.com optimizes for Google SEO by focusing on product-centric
keywords, a user-friendly site architecture with clear navigation
and a strong emphasis on reviews and sales velocity to signal product
popularity and customer satisfaction to search engines.

  • A recent research piece on eCommerce schema markup (DigitalChakra UK) found that “Amazon had no schema markup at all on any pages.
  • On StackExchange, someone asked whether Amazon uses structured data. They checked Amazon product pages for things like schema.org, Offer, ld+json and didn’t find anything.
  • Some anecdotal / SEO‐community comments match that: when using Google’s Rich Results or Structured Data Testing tools on Amazon product pages, people report seeing nothing.

Why I was wrong / how the confusion might’ve happened

  • I might have assumed that big eCommerce sites use schema because many do, especially for product pages. But being big doesn’t guarantee it.
  • Sometimes structured data is added in ways that are hard to detect (behind scripts, dynamically loaded, etc.), but the tests people have done suggest Amazon’s pages are not exposing schema markup.
  • Also SEO write-ups / blogs sometimes assume schema is everywhere, and that can lead to overgeneralization.

They must have outsourced it to multiple good agencies. The monthly budget would be in millions.

From what I’ve seen, Amazon wins mostly through massive internal linking, structured data, and sheer authority. They optimize product titles, categories, reviews, and user-generated content at scale, way less about tricks, more about leveraging volume and site architecture
