Affiliate Marketing: Good or Bad idea?

Hello BHW members, I’d like to get some feedback on an idea I have.

Instead of running Facebook ads directly to sell my eBook, I’m considering running ads that promote an affiliate opportunity. Basically, I’d invite people to join my affiliate program and promote the eBook for me. Since it’s a digital product, I don’t mind giving away 50% commissions on every sale, there are no extra costs on my side.

Here’s my plan so far:

• Create the eBook – I’m thinking of writing about “Make Money Online”, since it’s always a hot niche.
• Build a website – I already know how to create modern, professional-looking websites, so this part isn’t an issue.
• Run Facebook ads – Instead of targeting buyers, I’d target lower-tier countries where ad costs are cheaper. The goal is to attract potential affiliates, not direct sales.
• Target women specifically – My reasoning is that many women are highly active on social media, often with strong follower bases and a lot of male engagement on their profiles. This could translate into easier traffic and more sales for the product.
• Use “Get More Messages” campaign type Facebook ads – That way, interested people (in this case, targeting ONLY girls) would message me directly. Then I’d explain the affiliate program and give them all the details about promoting my product.

What do you think about this approach? Is it a good strategy, or do you see potential problems I should work on? Any advice is welcome, I want to make this as successful as possible.

You should only write books on things you are qualified to write about. People can spot a stinker and a noob a mile away. If you're a noob, the only thing you're trying to do by making a book on money making is to persuade yourself! lol

Use your skill in software knowledge for a particular program. I specliaise in animation programs, thats why i build tuturials and videos on animation and art related stuff.

Also if your english sucks, consider getting better at that first, to show you take an interest in your english audiance. You won't be able to pump out a simple ebook when english is your second language, and your bad at it, and you just got chatgpt to write your whole book. People really won't care, and obviously neither do you. It will show in the writing.

Also rather thn use facebook ads, yuou should use digital platforms, that take a cut of your product, in exchange to host and deliver and recive payment for you. There are a few companies that have marketplaces that people can search and find your product.

Your approach is somewhat rigid. But when you say you want to "target women", do you mean that you'll pay them to promote your ebook on their profiles? I presume that is what you meant, right?

Do you mean running ads to recruit collaborators? That’s an interesting idea, but I think it might be quite difficult, since most people are usually reluctant to work without a fixed salary. Also, the ad budget itself could be an issue. I wonder why you don’t use that budget to work with KOLs and have them promote your ebook instead?

Not a bad idea, but i will advice after people dm, you should create a group or community where you can keep track of everyone, i mean those who have showed interest.

Most importantly, CREATE A CHALLENGE, most businesses don't know this trick, if you create a challenge and you "Anyone that is able to make so so sales within so so period of time will have so so bonus aside there commission or will win a sponsored trip to so so place etc...

Interesting idea but I’d be careful. Running ads just to recruit affiliates usually brings in people who won’t actually sell. Better to prove your ebook makes sales first, then affiliates will naturally want in. Also, don’t waste too much time in Messenger - build a page to pre-qualify them.
