The blockchain space remains like a never-ending game of chess, with one of its top player getting ready for yet another move. In late 2025, the Fusaka upgrade will deliver several behind-the-scenes improvements aimed at enhancing efficiency, scalability and security. Although these technical improvements won't affect existing smart contracts, they will lay the groundwork for future expansion.

This year's upgrade, Pectra brought actions like account abstraction which made wallets simpler to use, permitted transaction batching and enhanced key recovery. These steps indicate a continued focus on ease of use without sacrificing decentralization.

What is more, market focus remains intense beyond the technology. Institutional investors are on the sidelines, and volatility is fuelling sharp price movements. Now it will have to figure out how to innovate without rocking stability too much.

If blockchain were truly a useful innovation—like AI, for example—we’d already see mass adoption everywhere. That hype ended with the ICO era.

Even high DeFi staking rewards couldn’t attract real companies or serious capital. It all still looks like a playground. Institutions only care about Bitcoin, while Ethereum will likely crash once the first Ethereum treasuries start going bankrupt.

Transaction batching alone saved me a small fortune in gas fees last month

Blockchain adoption is slower but real, just as tokenization, onchain finance, gaming, RWAs, and institutional custody are growing. Unlike ICO hype, today’s infrastructure is utility-driven, not speculative, AI took decades too.
