Massive Parasite SEO Hack is now going on in .gov/.edu (20M+ traffic last 24h)

Someone found a widespread exploit on .gov and .edu sites and is using it to create thousands of spam pages that are ranking almost overnight.

Check out the traffic for a single .ca.gov subdomain. Went from basically zero to 8M/mo organic traffic in a day.

And it's not just one site. I'm seeing the same pattern across a bunch of high-DR domains:

Wild how fast those pages blew up. I’m curious how long they’ll actually hold before Google smacks them down. Definitely not worth messing with those domains. They’ll get wiped faster than they rank.

Yes, this thing existed for 20 years already.

But I would't say its not worth it, sometimes people can earn million $$$ from such loopholes, but, only very few people can do it, those who can hack a big website and utilize it.

You can makes thousands in a day before they get deleted. This is what churn and burn projects are meant for - take your money and say goodbye. They are not long term projects in the first place. They have always been high risk high reward projects.

I suspect most are located in countries where uploading mass pages to US educational or government institutions is not looked upon as a crime, and maybe even encouraged.

but encouraged? hell no lol, that's a diplomatic disaster,
I live in a 3rd country myself, and the police can't monitor simple crimes often

Yes, they are getting ten of thousand of free traffic to their site which they would have never never got even in their dreams.
But lot of annoying maintenance and housekeeping they will have to go through now.
It is basically pdf upload by spamming their application/contact forms.

They don't always rank and are very unpredictable when it comes to ranking.

Only way to make money is by automatic the process or by having an army of cheap VAs.

I also use this method, and the inclusion is indeed very fast, but the ranking is very slow. Is there any way to solve the ranking problem?

Seen this wave too — insane spikes, but super volatile. These loopholes come and go, and Google usually wipes them once they catch on. Classic churn & burn play: short-term gain, long-term pain. Definitely not a sustainable strategy if you’re building something that needs to last.
