My backlink strategy

My strategy is pretty simple, I do a Google search of my sites niche and find a high PR site (My competition)

I then use a backlink checker. I can't post links, but PM and I will tell you which backlinker I use, though you can do a simple Google search for "Backlink checker" and find one.

You're going to type the URL of your competition into the backlink checker and wait for the results. Depending on what backlink checker you use..it will show you where they left their backlinks.

So I go to each site they went to and leave a backlink also. In addition to creating backlinks in .gov domains and .edu domains.

Depending on the competition of your niche, they may have thousands of backlinks, so it's hardwork. But I always give myself a goal like 50 backlinks a day.

I mean they're ranked high for a reason whether its backlinks or not, it can't hurt to backlink where your competition backlinked and then one up them by backlinking on a view .gov and .edu sites.

I use the WebRank Toolbar for firefox. It gives you quick access to the backlinks.

Sorry to say, yes...many people.

It's the stuff you do afterwards what makes the difference. For example:

1- If the link's on a site with more than 1 page to tackle, you can do a "site:" search with the proper footprint and look for higher PR pages.
2- Follow other well anchored links on the pages you visit and do a backlink check on those URLs as well
3- Find footprints and search for sites on similar platforms to target

There are quite a few more things you can do, and you can get much further with the proper software. However, knowing what to do is much more important, imo. Besides, when you're going WH, there's an element you must never forget that gives you a good edge: content and it's natural tendency in most social environments to turn viral.

Harvesting competitors' backlinks is the most effective way of linkbuilding.

I am using this technique. I randomly key in some high competitive keyword and use SEOquake to check their backlink. I am slowing compiling a list of the backlink especially for those blog comment backlink.

Interestingly, I notice that many site that rank high have do have many "no-follow" backlink

Yep!

To me, this means big G still counts no-follow links.. A link is a link!

I do this when I can, but it's not always easy to get links everywhere your competitor has them. Sometimes they are on sites where the webmaster isn't willing to sell anymore links... Or only at a very high price.

This is true: G** is considering all nofollow backlinks, since most of them come from trusted, relevant sites, so no need to go only for the **************** links.
