If DEXs can meet CEXs in features, would you switch ?

We all know centralized exchanges are the majorly preferred for trading due high liquidity, leverage and security but some still opt for DEXs.

For example, some still trade on Unisawp and Avantis which lets people trade not just crypto but also RWAs like FX, commodities and equities. I kept thinking if it's because the latter allows zero-fee on perps trade, traders only pay fees if they profit and probably because it allows up to 500x leverage. It makes me think if traders would move to DEX trading if they can offer same thing as CEXs. Or do you think most people will stick with CEXs because of security and trust ?

Zero-fee perps on a DEX would tempt me, but trust and support still matter too much

That's the beauty of defi, it can be non custodial, no one to trust, eg uniswap. Anyway you have hyperliquid nowadays that handles the perp space.

The issue with DEXs is depending on chain it could be pretty costly to swap in terms of gas fees, CEXs usually charge like 0.01% per trade.

Also for any form of trading, speed is key, and finality is just not so fast on blockchains vs traditional databases

Yes, I agree. Though speed of trading/on chain confirmation can be increased by using tools (snipers/bots) its more of a nuance on DEXs to do so compared to CEXs.

Most traders stick with CEXs because they trust the structure, speed, and liquidity they feel safer knowing there’s a gatekeeper. But the second DEXs remove that friction and offer the same power zero fee perps, insane leverage, diverse market they start looking irresistible. The real shift will happen when DEXs prove they can match CEX reliability without the counterparty risk, and that’s when traders won’t just test then will migrate.
