What's Your Experience with Google Ads Representatives?

Hey guys,

I've been running legit white hat Google Ads now for almost 3 years, and have been part of various Google Growth programs where they assign you an individual, either from Dublin or from Dubai, depending on your niche and company location, who will then help you manage the account.

A hand full of their advice seemed genuine and I appreciated the insiders info on what my competition does, but it just felt like they had their own script that they follow with every account, and then once they run you through that script they will just "maintain you" with small chatter, and we would both be at the mercy of the automated flag system that Google implemented.

If there's an automated ban, they can get your account back and running, but you will get banned again if you do the same method. (e.g. target casino or dating)

If there's a smaller request like "hey can you increase my threshold to $5000), they can say sure sure, but then the automated threshold says a stupid number and you can only get $175.

Like parrots on every call they repeat the same things "hey we need to do performance max" but yes brother, that got me banned last time.

So now I'm counting my fifth Google Rep, this one seems genuine, but again, getting any proper value out of them is very questionable.

How are you guys being treated by them? What's your experience with Google Reps in Google Ads?

I’ve worked with multiple Google reps as well, and honestly, it feels like a mixed bag. Some genuinely try to help, but most stick to the same “playbook” push Performance Max, Smart Campaigns, etc. Whether it fits your business or not, that’s always their go-to recommendation.

In my experience:

• They’re good at handling account basics, troubleshooting small issues, or restoring accounts after an auto-flag.
• But when it comes to strategic growth or niche-specific advice, the input is very surface level.
• The “insider info” on competitors is usually limited to very general trends nothing you couldn’t figure out with proper tools.

I’ve also noticed what you mentioned: the automated systems dictate everything now. Even if a rep agrees with you, they rarely have the authority to override the algorithm.

That said, I still take calls occasionally just to see if they bring up new betas or features that aren’t public yet. Beyond that, I rely on my own testing and data.

It's the same script for everyone because that's what they are trained with, they've got targets to hit. If any rep genuinely knows what they're talking about then they move on from support to campaign manager at some agency with better pay and opportunities.

I wouldn't thank them for the results that I've got, it was mostly me testing and then reporting to them what I did and they acknowledging that "yes that's a good thing continue".

Sure here and there they would tell me what my competitors are doing, but nothing that I couldn't just google and check out myself.
