I've started running, any tips?

I was a long distance runner back in the day (6 marathons and qualified for the Boston back when you had to run one under 3 hours).

Run, enjoy and bring a friend.

5K is not long distance but it does take a little to get to that but if you turn it into an enjoyable experience, instead of a competitive one, you can then turn it into a competitive one.

I never run on marathon yeah but i run to catch my kiddo most of the time. So for me my home is not less than marathon for me. :D

no idea what im doing wrong, any tips?, any runners here? how can you run for 5k straight without resting :(, damn im so unfit
Don't be too hard on yourself. Build up to it slowly. I would focus of pace and not speed. Also, don't forget your electrolytes and get proper running shoes.

Don't just run, do more exercises—soccer, karate, or something that demands more of you than running—and you could double your mileage without even realizing it.

is it normal to run alone, without music and constantly telling yourself that your fat, weak, unhealthy and other self roasting crap?

Running alone is fine, and running without music is fine but lose the negative thoughts as that isn't healthy no matter what you are doing.

Better go learn kick boxing than sprinting.
Getting fit without external motivation is waaay harder. All the guys in the dojo are fit but in the gym? Maybe 1 in 5.

are running from something or just run for the sport?
Haha! spoken like my Mum.
Get the Strava app, see if you have friends on there, join clubs and set monthly goals.
I started with running 5k, now i bought a bike and cycle more than i drive to the shops.
I just bought fitbit aswell.
It's gradually becoming a lifestyle and i love it.

That really is a good App... great suggestion.

Just keep going, push yourself a little bit more each time because it gets easier as your body adapts to running and to being more efficient with breathing etc.

Really focus on your warmup before you run; to get everything working efficiently, otherwise when you start running you just get out of breath immediately and your muscles get tight because your body panics. But warmup helps to prevent that.

When you finish, do a really good stretch of all your muscles to reduce fatigue the following day.

Set yourself goals that are a little bit of a challenge because then psychologically you will push yourself to your own limits.

Alongside the running drink lots, eat healthy and get lots of rest and it will all help towards improving your fitness.

They’re just my tips from my own experience but I am not at the level of running marathons or anything like that just been running mainly 5k for a while myself.

I'm starting running too haha. It's really hard for the first 2-3km dude. Then my legs stopped hurting, my head cleared, my breathing became steady again and I continued running with my will. I run about 5km now. Keep it up bro

Go nuts is what I did. All the strategies on how to get started are all just reasons to not do it imho. One day I just started sprinting the same route as long as I could and after about 2 months I could sprint the entire route. It takes some time, but hey, time is inevitable.

If you're carrying extra weight like me, I'd suggest starting with just walking so you don't ruin your knees. From there, you can add in strength training, or CrossFit for more rapid weight loss. I would only start running after you've already dropped some of the weight.
