For me, ChatGPT started the hype and it is still probably the largest AI company with millions of users worldwide.

But last updates didn't reach our expectations.

Nowadays, Gemini from Google is better overall, in basically everything. Claude, Qwen, Deep Seek and others are also better or at least, in the same level in most use cases.

Gemini basically killed my interest on ChatGPT a few days ago, when they launched Nano Banana, their new Image generator. ChatGPT was the king about image generation, now, not even that anymore. It's better about very specific things, like cartoonize photos, but in general, it's worse than Nano Banana.

So, is there any point in using ChatGPT Plus on August 30, 2025?

For now, in my opinion, Gemini is the king overall. For some specific usages, there are free alternatives, I don't see any reason to keep paying for ChatGPT. Are you still paying for it?

Of course there are points to using ChatGPT said. Like you said at one point about Gemini - there are specific usages. There are thousands upon thousands of others who have different business (or personal) needs than you - as a result, they may find more value out of ChatGPT, for other purposes, than what you may need for yours.

That can be done by Gemini, Claude and several others tools, nothing special

I've done a lot of coding on Claude, Gemini, and Chatgpt. One thing I noticed is that Chatgpt used to give up until 4.0 and say that it can't solve a problem. Now it can do deep research and fix bugs with ease. Claude and Gemini still provide erroneous code with a lot of confidence.

Claude and Gemini look like brilliant AI models as long as answers are available on the internet. When I need these models to read and analyse GitHub repos, chatgpt is far better than others. I compared free versions of all these models. So, I can't comment about paid versions.

Each platform has its own strengths. Gemini is strong in images and multimedia, but ChatGPT is still good for deep analysis, complex coding, and integration with the Microsoft ecosystem. Choose based on your needs — no need to drop it entirely.

Claude and Gemini are good at providing answers found easily on the internet, however they are not as capable as ChatGPT when it comes to analyzing and understanding complex repositories like those on GitHub.

For AI that writes, reasons, automates, researches, or handles multimodal tasks, I still prefer ChatGPT Plus (with GPT-5).

Yeah, Gemini feels ahead right now, but ChatGPT still has an edge in structured writing and reasoning. Hard to say who stays on top since this space shifts so fast.

If I were to pay for any of the above-mentioned models, I would go with Claude because I love the code it generates. Apart from that, I am not going to pay for any of the models as all the things I need can be done on the free version.

I keep Plus for the API access, but for casual use, Gemini looks better indeed.

We have different agenda when using ChatGpt bro, this really helps me a lot with different area of my life.

I'm just using Gemini for everything, I've already cancelled my ChatGPT Plus subscription, it can be useful for some use cases, but no need to pay for that

I prefer chatgpt more than others because with their latest updates, coding is super easy and correct.

Canceled my subscription after I saw qwen max. Cost is low on the api ($6 output per 1m tokens) and free on the web ui. Also got Gemini as a backup.

Gpt5 tbh didn’t deserve the name of gpt5, they just dumbed down the model to save on costs and didn’t do anything revolutionary unlike qwen and Gemini. Canceled my ChatGPT sub.

I disagree, cuz i've got a lot of GPT plus subscriptions
and GPT-5 PRO access accounts

and i tested it A LOT, and it's really better that Claude,Gemini and etc
i really love it, agent tool is crazy
and it's really good at coding, while using thinking model
in model gpt-5 PRO
it's coding as best version as amoung others, like claude , grok and gemini

u'd better test it in more that "gpt5fast" models :)

It's tough to see what GPT5 excels at currently. Or, now that o3 and legacy models are back too, maybe just chatgpt.

When I was buying a new monitor recently, I got perplexity and gpt5 to compare 3-4 screen options.

GPT5 couldn't even correctly tell me which were curved and which weren't... It seems those hallucinations are happening a lot recently, and some really trivial stuff too.

I wonder if it's because it's getting more and more data from Reddit?

I've used Chat GPT from the beginning and through all the updates. It does everything I want including some more complicated things. The programming is excellent. I have tried several others and they are equally as good in most cases but I work on the basis of "if it's not broken, don't fix it"
