Does IPv6 also distinguish between residential and non-residential types?

I know that IPv4 distinguishes between residential and server types. I want to know if IPv6 currently has this concept as well. I saw on BHW that someone suggested using IPv6 for scraping Google SERP and warming up a large number of Instagram accounts. Is it because the vast number of IPv6 addresses makes it difficult for these big companies to accurately identify the nature of IPv6, or is there another reason?
 
IPv6 also has residential and datacenter ranges, but sites don’t filter it as strictly as IPv4 yet, since there are so many IPv6 addresses, it’s harder for platforms to track them, which is why people use it for scraping or warming accounts.
 
Chances are you'll get many ip v6 addresses from the same network and you'll have to battle captchas anyway.

companies might not be able to detect the source of the ipv6, but if they see in their logs tons of ipv6 with the same or very similar hextets they might ban those ranges
 
Google and Instagram likely rely more on behavior than just IP type when flagging accounts.
 
Yes, and the distinction is even more complex than with IPv4. The advice you came across is valid, though it's worth noting that IPv6 adoption is still ongoing, and detection mechanisms may not yet be fully refined.
 
Yes, IPv6 does have a similar concept to residential vs. server IPs, if a bit more complicated than IPv4 though.
With IPv4, most big platforms already have well-established databases classifying the ranges (residential, datacenter, mobile, etc.)
For IPv6 though, it's not quite as. At least not to knowledge as of late. There's quite a lot of available addresses that providers can rotate huge pools rapidly, which makes it harder for platforms to track and flag them at scale. Could be why some people see better results using IPv6 for scraping or account warm-ups. The address space is massive, less congested, and not as heavily blacklisted yet. I gotta stress this is in part speculation and the key word is "yet".
That said, ASN reputation, usage patterns, and device fingerprints still matter a lot regardless.

No, IPv6 does not inherently distinguish between residential
and non-residential types; it distinguishes between public
and private addresses
 
I think IPv6 can also be categorized into residential and non-residential. It’s simple, many households use wifi routers with IPv6 addresses. As for datacenter IPv6, I’ve never really heard of it. Also, I’ve only seen IPv6 being used for scraping Google SERPs, not for warming up Instagram accounts. For IG accounts, you’d be better off using IPv4. That’s just my opinion.
 
IPv6 doesn’t really split into “residential vs datacenter” the way IPv4 does. Right now the huge pool and lighter filtering make it harder for platforms to classify
 
IPv6 itself doesn’t have a “residential vs datacenter” label — it’s identified by ASN, prefix ownership, rDNS, and traffic behavior. The huge address pool just makes detection harder, but big platforms still use prefix reputation and patterns, so for residential-like behavior use ISP or mobile IPv6 with proper session/device isolation.
 
IPv6 doesn’t differentiate between residential and non-residential addresses at the protocol level. Using IPv6 to scrape Google SERP data and warm up large numbers of Instagram accounts is that IPv6 proxies are usually more affordable, which makes them great for handling large-scale data tasks.
