How are you optimizing content to show up in AI Overviews, answer engines, or generative search results?

The very same way as for organic.
Nothing really changes.

Unless you are influencer and want to sell something.

Use AI to generate the content, use schema to help the engines to understand it. AI prefers AI generated content https://www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.2415697122

I just optimized the pages like I normally would. I used keywords, included information that people would actually look for, etc. Then, one day, while I was doing research, I saw my pages on the AI overview.

You are true.

This hype is so much distracting us from the real value of SEO.

OP, you just do the same thing you did before. Just keep things natural and authentic. Publish quality real life content and acquire high authority links from good sites. Rest is on Google.

Applying all SEO techniques properly will also help to gain visibility in GEO. You can not rank in GEO without strong SEO.

Instead of keyword stuffing, I now shape content like mini knowledge hubs answering related questions, interlinking, and giving short summaries at the top of each article.

Clear, concise answers up front: I write content in a way that directly answers the main query within the first 2–3 lines.

Structured formatting: Using headings, bullet points, and FAQs makes it easier for AI models to extract context.

Entity-based content:
I cover related terms, synonyms, and concepts so the content feels complete, not just keyword-stuffed.

Authoritativeness: Adding sources, stats, or expert opinions helps build trust for generative engines.

Conversational style:
Since AI overviews mimic natural answers, I write in a more “human” tone instead of just dry SEO text.

Schema markup: I’m experimenting with FAQ and How to schema to give AI clearer data to pull from.
