I have a YouTube channel with 30k subscribers just collecting dust for a few years now.

Tried to activate it a few times the last few years with niche & branding changes, nothing really picked up but i didnt really try either.

I've been away from YouTube these last few years so my question is:

is it worth it to try again in a new niche?
Will it be better/worse than starting with a new channel?

Is AI video creation and monetization dead on YouTube since the new updates?

It’s worth trying again with your old channel, since 30k subs give you a head start, but focus on one clear niche.

A 30k channel is still a solid asset, so it’s worth trying to revive before starting fresh. YouTube tends to favor consistency, so if you pick one niche and stick with it you can rebuild momentum. AI content still works if it’s mixed with value and originality, pure automation doesn’t go far anymore.

You should continue with the previous theme. The fact that you managed to get 30k subscribers says that your content is good.

Try Shorts first on your old channel, they can revive engagement pretty fast

New niche , then what is the benefit of old subscribers ?

It’s definitely worth trying again — an existing channel with 30k subs gives you a head start compared to starting from zero. Success will depend more on consistent quality content than the niche switch itself. AI video creation isn’t dead, but low-effort spammy content is getting hit hard; if you use AI as a tool to enhance value, you can still grow and monetize.
