How Do You Handle WHOIS Privacy for Your Domains?

No I never turn it off, it's on by default for a reason. The only time it's off because some ctlds(.us etc) dont allow it.

So how do you balance trust with keeping your info private?

You gain trust by adding elements like secure checkout , protected by, real looking authors and their bio, by building site authority.
If it's a business include NAP- name address phone number.

Tested by turning whois privacy off I got lot of spam request, spam mails with links

visitors / customers don't verify a business with whois info, you need to add authentic contact info on website to make it trustworthy

I turn on WHOIS privacy for most of my domains to keep my info safe. I only show my details for business sites where trust matters. No wild stories yet, but I think it’s better to stay private unless you really need to be public.

The only people who’ll ever bother checking your WHOIS are your competitors, lmao.

Turning it off does nothing good for you.

So do you keep privacy on for all your domains now?

We all know WHOIS privacy exists, but how do you actually handle it?
When is it worth turning on, how do you balance trust vs. hiding your info, and got any wild stories from leaving it on or off?
Do not turn it off. Most of the providers provide it for free anyway.

Makes sense, John. Showing your info only on business sites strikes a good balance between privacy and trust.

So we can use the same trick to bug them back, right? lol

I usually keep WHOIS privacy on by default
especially for affiliate, PBN, or test sites to avoid spam and keep things clean. For legit business sites where trust matters, I sometimes leave it off or use business info instead of personal. It’s all about context. One time I forgot to turn it on and got hit with nonstop spam calls within hours

Privacy is there, usually on by default, and usually free except for with the shittiest of registrars. There's no real reason to turn it off. A legit business has their contact details plastered all over their site, there should be no reason you have to do a WHOIS query to get that info.

Same here. You did notice a trust boost when you left it off for business sites, right?

Fair enough. But what about small businesses? Could public WHOIS ever make them look more legi?
