I used to treat links as a numbers game get X links, rank Y page. But these days I treat every placement like a PR opportunity. Relevant mentions, thoughtful anchors, and even social proof have started to make more impact than pure DR metrics.

What is social proof and can you give an example of the topic and anchor that you post, it is not very clear what PR is in your case?

I completely agree with you. But unfortunately, many still prioritize number of links as well as purely DA/DR metrics irrespective of what the site providing the links does or even look like. This has ultimately led to some link providers providing links that aren't guest posts as guest post links, just because said sites have high DA/DR
 
I totally agree. Focusing on quality placements that build brand authority feels way more effective now than just chasing link numbers. Relevant mentions and natural anchors definitely seem to bring better long-term results.
 
True, backlinks work best now when they actually build trust and brand visibility together.
