Do Domain Extensions Still Matter for SEO in 2025?

It's not as strong as use to me. For example .ai had more relevance then .com for ai related app or site. But com still it holds the crown due to trustworthiness.
For example xyz looks super spammy. A .com get aways with that initial hurdle.
In real seo battle lots of things needs to be considered and trustworthiness is one of them.

Use human write content and buy good qulity of guest post you can rank faster

You’re right, dude. In SEO, many factors matter, but credibility is always a key advantage.

As for as I see Google don't care about extensions they care the real or original content they even don't care about original now :D

Google doesn’t really favor .com over others now, but .com still feels more trustworthy and easier to remember. I’d pick what fits the brand and focus more on content and backlinks.

So has that changed how you choose domains?

Some say a .com still holds the crown, others claim Google doesn't care. What's your take?

Have you seen certain extensions perform better (or worse) in real SEO battles?
.com has no effect on seo. But it is good for branding. If you have long term approach and trust on your business, buy a .com , even when you have to pay premium for it.

Google has already stated that it does not give any technical preference to a domain extension (.com, .org, .net, etc.), except when it comes to country-specific extensions (.fr, .ng, .cm…), which can influence the geolocation of search results.

That makes sense. And have you found any other extensions that work just as well for branding?

True, .com is great for branding. What's the highest you think is worth paying for the right one?

Exactly, Google treats most TLDs equally.

Thank you for that remark. It’s true that .com gives a certain credibility.

Absolutely, .com has that trust vibe. Think any other TLDs are closing the gap?

I will not say that the domain extension will not matter in SEO. It also matters but apart from this the quality of content and backlinks will be matter for more than the extensions. Usually ".com" will holds the crown due to trustworthyness.

Yes I think domain extension still matters. But may be not as it was before. There are some psychological issues here as well. We the human prefer .com more than .net/ etc.

Agreed, .com still wins on trust. Think that’ll ever change?

True, .com still feels like the default, even if the gap isn’t as big as before.
