I know a banned account can't post anything. Can it do anything in the mod backend if it were already granted mod status before being banned? What if it's labeled an inactive mod? Does anyone know a way to get a permaban lifted for a mod account? TIA

A sitewide-banned account can’t use mod tools, access is effectively disabled. “Inactive mod” doesn’t restore permissions. If you think the ban was a mistake, your only route is an appeal through official support/admins (and have another mod contact them via modmail with context). No legit workaround.

You cannot interact with the site in any way if you're banned, except for using the API.

A banned mod account can’t use mod tools, and permabans can only be lifted by site admins.

A banned accounts can't do anything, even as a mod. Being inactive or having mod status before the ban doesn't change that. The only way to try to get a permanent ban removed is to contact reddit admins, but it might not work.

You’d need to mod with an alt account if you want to keep control.

Only Reddit admins can lift a ban, mods can’t override it. Realistically you’d have to appeal directly through the help form but unless the ban was a mistake chances are slim and their support is pretty much non existent anyway. Best move is usually starting fresh with a new account.

no way, you lose all your priorities when banned

A banned mod account can’t perform backend actions; its permissions are fully restricted if marked inactive, it stays symbolic only For lifting a permaban, appeals through Reddit admin support are required

if your ban was in error, you can appeal through the message they usually sent. if it was ban for abusing being a mod, or someone reporting for a tos violation,
