A few weeks ago I started a FB campaign selling a bot for an old MMORPG. The game had just opened a new server and people were going crazy over it — forums, Discord, everywhere. Perfect timing to jump in.
I didn’t overthink the ad creative. I figured my audience wouldn’t care much about fancy stuff, so I just threw together something super basic:
One screenshot, plain text, done.
I set the budget at $500/day and let it run.
4 days later… I was $2,000 in the hole. Zero profit.
Before changing anything, I sent the ad to a friend who runs ads as well. He didn’t even hesitate — “Your offer’s fine, targeting’s fine, but your creative looks like you made it in 5 minutes.”
I honestly thought he was wrong. My logic was that this audience already knows what a bot is, they just need to see the features. But since the campaign was bleeding money, I decided to give it a shot and redo the creative.
This time I:
Next day results?
That’s $2,440 profit in a single day. It covered my $2k loss from the first 4 days and left me with $440 in net profit overall.
$440 might not sound like much, but that’s on a $500/day spend. If I can scale this 4–5x without killing performance, those profits will look a lot better.
Lesson learned: I kept the same targeting, same offer, same spend… the only thing I changed was the creative — and it turned the campaign around overnight.
Running the same setup today to see if it holds.

This time I:
- Showed more in-game examples of the bot actually working
- Highlighted different features visually instead of just text
- Matched the whole design style to the game’s look so it blended naturally
Next day results?
- 60 keys sold at $49 each = $2,940 in revenue
- Same $500 ad spend
