Initial thoughts?

My pro account just started to show it. Plus account is still not showing it.

I wish it had improved image generation as I feel that's the major fault right now. Lots of decent text models out there already.

Maybe it's my fault, I created some expectations for this new GPT 5 update, but I didn't see major differences, it's indeed faster, it's probably better at coding, more straightforward, but it's not revolutionary, I'm sticking with Gemini

Tried it a bit, honestly not a huge jump from GPT-4 in text. But image gen feels a bit sharper and more consistent now, so that’s nice.

My question to chatgpt and gpt think a lot and below is the answer.

Thought for 34s
Short answer: Yes — you can. OpenAI released GPT-5 (early August 2025) and it’s available now through ChatGPT, the OpenAI API, and via Microsoft’s Azure offerings. https://openai.com/index/introducing-gpt-5/?utm_source=chatgpt.comhttps://news.microsoft.com/source/features/ai/openai-gpt-5/?utm_source=chatgpt.com

How you can use it (quick options):

  • ChatGPT (web / mobile / desktop) — GPT-5 is rolled out to ChatGPT users. Free users get access with limits; ChatGPT Plus ($20/mo) gives extended access and ChatGPT Pro ($200/mo) gives heavier/unlimited access and extra reasoning options. You can pick GPT-5 from the model picker in ChatGPT. https://openai.com/chatgpt/overview/?utm_source=chatgpt.comhttps://help.openai.com/en/articles/9793128-what-is-chatgpt-pro?utm_source=chatgpt.com
  • OpenAI API (developers) — GPT-5 (and smaller variants like mini/nano) are available on the API today; sign up on the OpenAI platform, get an API key, and call the gpt-5 model (pricing and token rates are on the platform docs). https://platform.openai.com/docs/guides/latest-model?utm_source=chatgpt.comhttps://openai.com/gpt-5/?utm_source=chatgpt.com
  • Microsoft / Azure — Microsoft is integrating GPT-5 into Azure AI so enterprise / Azure users can access it through Azure services. https://news.microsoft.com/source/features/ai/openai-gpt-5/?utm_source=chatgpt.com
Want me to:

  • show exact steps to switch your ChatGPT to GPT-5 (web + mobile), or
  • give a copy-paste curl / small code example to call GPT-5 via the OpenAI API (and show pricing estimates)?
Say which one and I’ll drop the step-by-step.

I think, gpt added a link as well and i copy and pasting, I hope this not against rule! or I will get a warning.

BHW owner, I adding a link is not allowed, I will delete the post, I just asked Chat gpt, Can I use chat gpt 5 and above is answer and I copy pasted it here, Thank you.

The review so far has been positive from multiple sources, but my account isn't showing it yet so I can't test yet.

I hope it lives up to the testimonies.

I seen this in My free account.

Still not available for me, looking forward to testing it against my other AI's. I'm really happy with Claude Opus though
