Good evening everyone,
I wanted to share some actionable tips for Local SEO in 2025. I’ve been doing local-focused SEO for a while now, mostly helping small businesses (restaurants, repair services, gyms, etc.) rank higher on Google Maps and in local packs – and a few things have consistently worked, while others don’t anymore.
Here’s a quick guide I hope helps someone here:
1. Google Business Profile Still Rules
Your GMB (sorry – GBP now ) is still the #1 asset. But now it’s not just about NAP anymore.
*Make sure:
2. On-page = Signals + Structure
A lot of people still forget to add location modifiers in title tags, H1s, and even schema.
Key tips:
3. Local Backlinks Work (If You Don’t Spam)
Getting links from local blogs, news sites, or niche directories still moves the needle.
*Don’t:
Blast general PBN links to your GMB site – it doesn’t help much anymore
*Do:
Sponsor a local event or get a mention from a community blog
Ask suppliers or partners to link to your business page
4. Citations Are Less Important Now (But Not Useless)
Don’t spend a fortune on thousands of citation listings. Focus on the major ones (Yelp, Foursquare, Apple Maps, etc.) and make sure everything matches.
5. Reviews = Trust (But Also Rankings)
Let’s help each other out. Cheers,

1. Google Business Profile Still Rules
Your GMB (sorry – GBP now ) is still the #1 asset. But now it’s not just about NAP anymore.
*Make sure:
- You’re posting updates weekly
- You fill in the Q&A section with real questions
- Your services are clear and categorized properly
- You upload geotagged photos regularly
- You encourage reviews – naturally (avoid fake ones; they don’t last)
2. On-page = Signals + Structure
A lot of people still forget to add location modifiers in title tags, H1s, and even schema.
Key tips:
- Embed Google Maps with a real location pin
- Use LocalBusiness schema markup properly
- Mention nearby landmarks or city names in content
- Add internal links between location pages (if you have multiple branches)
3. Local Backlinks Work (If You Don’t Spam)
Getting links from local blogs, news sites, or niche directories still moves the needle.
*Don’t:
Blast general PBN links to your GMB site – it doesn’t help much anymore

Don’t spend a fortune on thousands of citation listings. Focus on the major ones (Yelp, Foursquare, Apple Maps, etc.) and make sure everything matches.
5. Reviews = Trust (But Also Rankings)
- Quantity, frequency, and diversity matter. Get reviews from:
- Verified customers
- Different IPs & devices
- Ideally, mention your service + location in the review
- Things I’m Testing Right Now:
- Embedding Google Maps on tier 1 backlinks
- Local authority mini-sites with map embed + iframe stacking (still early, will update later)
- This is just what’s been working for me lately. Would love to hear from others – what are you doing for Local SEO right now?
Let’s help each other out. Cheers,
