Hello,

I would like to start with Weibo, but I totally don't know how to get on with it. Does it have any effect? How did you start? What are you promoting?

Weibo works similar to other social media platforms, especially Twitter. Sharing is the keyword under which Weibo operates.

Weibo can be a great platform. Here's a plan:Research your audience.Create engaging content.Collaborate with influencers.Use hashtags effectively.Analyze data for improvement.Promote your brand authentically.Effectiveness varies, but a strategic approach helps.

You can visit the microblogging site or download it directly from the mobile app, and with a successful registration you can share your expertise, experience and interests on it. Microblogging functions just like Twitter.

We started with high-end fashion and are still doing well.

The app is very easy to use, it's just like other social media platforms.

Weibo initially felt a bit confusing, but once I got used to it, it became pretty straightforward. I’m using it for a branding promo, and it’s been decent so far. Just stay active, use trending tags, and watch what others in your niche are doing.

You can state your product information and the country you are targeting to get people to give you advice.

If you’re planning to use Weibo seriously, recommended to localize your content like actually write in native Chinese and use visuals that fit the culture.Verified accounts help with credibility, and posts like sort videos, polls, and trending topics usually get the most engagement.Partnering with smaller KOLs is also a smart move to grow more organically, paid promos can give you a quick boost, but consistent posting and real interaction with followers is what builds long-term success, its a classic.

Getting started on Weibo is easier than it seems: first, sign up for a personal or business account at weibo.com (using your email or phone), then switch to a verified “V” account by submitting your ID or business license—this little badge boosts your credibility right away. Weibo still packs a punch in China’s social landscape, especially if you tailor your content to local tastes: short, punchy posts with eye-catching images or short videos tend to get the most engagement, and jumping in on trending hashtags can put you in front of tens of thousands of users overnight.

I kicked off my own brand page by sharing behind-the-scenes clips and customer stories, which helped me build an initial following of a few thousand within weeks. After that, I started collaborating with micro-KOLs in my niche—sending them sample products and getting them to post their honest reactions—rather than buying ads right away. Once I had that social proof, I ran a handful of targeted promoted posts (Weibo’s ad platform lets you zero in on age, region, even interests) to boost my best-performing content.

Overall, Weibo can be a game-changer if you commit to posting consistently, engage directly in comment threads, and combine organic outreach with small ad buys. What kind of product or service are you thinking of promoting?

You can share information about your products and target audience to get advice from experienced members.

Start by researching your target audience, then create and share content regularly think of Weibo like Twitter but with stronger local trends and hashtag culture.

Weibo can be powerful for reaching the Chinese market, but it's very different from Western platforms.

Start with Verified account (builds trust)
Use trending hashtags
Post visual, culturally relevant content

Common promos: Ecom, beauty, fashion, affiliate offers, local services.

Check successful accounts in your niche and model their style. It takes time but can work well.

It works if you target the Chinese market correctly; otherwise, it feels like talking to yourself in the desert.
