We have an AI fintech product that helps small business founders. Price is $149/mo. We want to try cold outreach focused on founders, particularly those seeking seed funding. Our product/service helps them get their financials in order for presentation to VCs to get funded, and we have relationships with VCs that we can leverage for introductions.

We spoke with one outfit that wanted $3,000 a month for 50,000 cold outbound emails per month, mostly scraped from Linkedin. They wanted a 2 month minimum. They will create 100 gmail accounts using 30+ different domains. Those accounts will then email each other for 2 weeks before ramping up the cold emails, about 25% of the volume per week, until you get to the 50,000 after 6 weeks (2 week warmup + 4 weeks ramp). So all in $6,000 to cold outbound 50,000 people. They state this will average convert to 30 real leads.

I am thinking of doing this myself using RapidAPI to scrape Linkedin and Postmark to send the cold outreach. We are approved on Postmark for transactional emails already and I've reached out to our support person regarding cold email campaigns.

I'd like to get any feedback regarding any of the above, alternative services, successes that people have had with cold email B2B outreach, especially to founders, etc.

Thanks!

It looks like you are being upsold instantly.ai, the account to domain ratio matches the default setup in instantly.
You can do all of the things you are being quoted to do by going direct and setting it up yourself, it is very easy and I have ran millions of emails through that platform, it is solid.

I run cold email plus LinkedIn messaging very much like this. You can spend a year figuring out all of the ins and outs of how to do this, and you can make a lot of mistakes, or you can hire someone.

The guys you are talking to are a little on the high side. You could ask them for a different fee structure and see how they respond; half of the fee up front, and a per appointment bonus. Appointments for the kind of thing you're asking for are $300 plus each.

We send about 100k email a day for our clients. If your guys know what they are doing, they should be able to improve the guarantee they've offered you. If not, DM me and I'll give you more ideas for how to proceed. The real question is, "How much is your time worth"

Have you used EmailBison?

It's not necessarily an entirely monetary transaction - I also want to learn the internals of how our reach works and what kind of messaging resonates. I don't think that it would take a year to figure those things out, but if it did, we would have the internal accumulated knowledge of that experience as opposed to someone else possessing that , so in my calculus it's probably worth it. Of all the activities, customer acquisition is the single most important thing to get right,

Follow all the cold email gurus on Twitter. I use Bison for a sequencer, but of course you could start with Smartlead or Instantly as well. Get a diversified infrastructure of Gmail, Outlook and private SMTPs. This way when the ESP algorithms change, you've not shut down. Always have 30% more capacity than you need so you can drop burned IPs and domains and not miss a beat.

Of course, copywriting and targeting are key. The more highly targeted your lists, the better. Scrub them against a suppression list and verifying them with two different sources before emailing.

Good luck!

You can run it yourself with targeted lists, warmed domains, and solid follow-up, but focus on quality over volume to get better B2B results.

50k scraped emails for 30 leads is not great math for 6k spend. Founders get spammed daily so generic volume blasts will burn domains fast. Better build a tight list of funded startups and send low volume personalized emails with clean data.
