I'm currently stuck in creating a solid freelancer portfolio for video editing for fiverr and Upwork
I don't really have any experience nor certificates
Just a start-up video editor but I've done some work overtime
I just need a solid portfolio to attract clients

If you are a beginner create something and add it to your portfolio look for ideas and inspiration of brand works, make videos with cool effects or transitions

One option would be to do deep dive research on YouTube, rip a bunch of videos that have:

• Standard talking-head interviews
• Corporate-style B-roll

Put all that into a demo video (clips cut to a snappy music track) and just pretend you edited all those jobs. That's kind of the BlackHat way to do this if you haven't worked on any projects. Rip specific content that doesn't look over-the-top or too good so that it looks like a realistic editor is real.

Extra pro tip: Look for editor reels and see what other people have done. You might even be able to pull some content from there as well. Just be creative and sneaky with how you do it so that it's not obvious. Of course don't pull anything directly from your region and try to find general-looking interviews and b-roll.

Great advice here. Find quality but not-super popular clips like DianaDelph mentioned and practice your skills until you make some quality cuts. Show off a variety of different skills while keeping it professional-looking.

Make some videos for free for real customers. It’s a really good way to gain experience communicating with them, and you’ll start understanding their needs right away.

I agree about the last recommendation, do some free gigs so you will get enough presentations for the portfolio, and you can start from there.

building a portfolio that shows actual results instead of just screenshots usually wins attention faster because people want proof you can deliver, not just pretty designs.
