After testing various services over the past few months, I’ve noticed a consistent pattern.
When I use these services to either upvote or downvote a post, the “live members” count in that subreddit suddenly spikes. For example, if the count is usually around 5–10, it jumps to 30, 40, 50, 60-80. Just from a few votes. I’m not even sending massive volumes.
What’s more interesting is that when this happens, the subreddits also see a sudden rise in subscribed member counts. I’ve been testing this mostly on smaller subreddits, using the Reddit iPhone app, which shows exact member count.
Out of all the providers I’ve tried, only one didn’t trigger this kind of behavior.
Has anyone else experienced this? What’s your take on it?
