how long have you been posting and how many videos have you uploaded, is it more of shorts or long form. one thing to keep in mind is you need to be consistent with uploads atleast for 2-3 months, and then rest the channel, there are cycles in the youtube algo, its a chain reaction of suggestions which happens every 3-4 months.

Long form videos are always going to pay you more that short forms, and expecially documentary videos are something people like to watch on their TV, tabs etc...youtube favors this highly, so make sure you create hq videos that will have atleast 50% retention and returning viewers, its an indication to youtube that viewers like coming back to your content and youtube will push it further.

keep it up and you'll get there eventually. Getting 1k subs should be pretty easy with shorts. Try to build a small audience first
