Telegram is testing facial scanning for verification

On a Telegram test server, a bot was discovered offering age verification using facial recognition. To proceed, users must activate their camera and move their head around.


️ The system is likely not intended for general Telegram login.

️ One hypothesis is that it's being implemented for new features, such as a built-in crypto wallet or access to age-restricted content.

️ Telegram has previously launched @wallet, integrated with TON, and announced plans to develop its platform towards Web3. Facial verification could become part of this ecosystem.

This initiative is driven by new legislation in the UK, which now requires online services to verify users’ age if they want access to pornographic content.

There has been no official comment from the Telegram team so far.

there's no hypothesis, everyone and their grandma knows by now why this is happening, only those who refuse to see still believe that the governments and the corporations are doing this to protect the kids, or for our safety

Anyway, I never use Telegram anyway, so this doesn't affect me. The problem is that they're sneakingly implementing this into other stuff that affects me, so in the end we all go to slaughter one way or another...
