Ranking problems due to spam banklink deletion

Good morning,

Since February 2025, I've been experiencing a constant decline in keyword rankings, which I've always had. While looking for possible solutions, I noticed I had several spam backlinks pointing to my site. I checked with SemRush. I then reported all these spam backlinks (over 500 domains) to Google to identify them. Since then, I've seen a further sharp decline in rankings in Google Search Console (I've attached a screenshot). Shouldn't the opposite be true? Thanks to anyone who can help!

Could equally be that your initial decline wasn't necessarily as a result of those spam links.

Consider updating your content and site, do so to match up to/with sites outranking you.

Also, I think you should acquire some quality links alongside it.

Thanks for your advice, this week I started buying new quality backlinks, but at the moment I'm seeing little results compared to the immediate collapse from June 30th to today.

Yeah that happens. But you gotta push the site with some good backlinks to at the same time to maintain the balance.

It’s frustrating when that happens. Disavowing spammy links should help long term, but it can sometimes cause a short-term drop. Google might reassess your backlink profile, which can affect rankings. Give it a bit more time and keep focusing on quality content and links.

Ranking drops can occur when spam backlinks are deleted because your site's backlink profile suddenly weakens. Google may reassess your authority, especially if those links were propping up your rankings.

Ranking drop might be due to relying on those spam links earlier on other issues like a google update. Disavowing helps in the long run, but also check your content, website issues, and recent Google updates.

yeah i’ve had the same thing happen. disavowing a bunch of links at once can actually mess things up short-term, even if they were spammy. plus google’s feb update hit a lotta sites. i’d just wait it out, post fresh stuff n build some solid links. it’ll bounce back.

While manually checking Google's SERPs, I noticed that I get different results depending on the browser I use. For example, on Firefox I have a certain position, while on Chrome, I get an even different one. I checked with both browsers set to anonymous mode and at the same time and on the same day. How is this possible? Does anyone have an answer? Is there a more reliable way to do a manual check? Thanks!
