One of my friend also did this with kids entertainment content but he edited those clips alot, like adding so many memes, sound effects, graphics. and once channel exploded, he started posting long form content by combining all of his shorts and other content. Currently he's monetized and makes roughly $1700 a month from that channel.

A few years ago I uploaded around 10 video compilations of sexy chicks dancing and twerking, on a channel that meant to spam cam links.

I abandoned the idea and the channel for a couple of years after that.

Went back to the channel in 2021 or 2022 (by then it had around 300 subs). I deleted all the twerk videos and did a 180 flip on the channel niche.

I started uploading Reddit stories and the channel took off gaining over 10k subs in less than a year.

However, I think that simply re-uploading shorts might not really work.

I could be wrong, but I don't think people subscribe to channels that are largely based on shorts, unless there's the promise of long form content related to a specific niche.

It's a very poor strategy. Did you know that even if you manage to get 10 million views from stolen videos, you still won’t get monetized? You have to delete those stolen videos to qualify for monetization, but when you delete them, the views are also deleted with them. So those 10 million views you gained? They’re gone. And without 10 million valid views, you can’t get monetized through Shorts. all you will gain from it are subscribers which are useless nowadays. If you understand the current YouTube algorithm, you’ll know that subscribers are no longer as important as they were 10 years ago. A channel with just 10 subscribers can go viral overnight with 10 million views, because today's YouTube algorithm focuses on content performance, not subscriber count. The first YouTube channel I managed to monetize took only two weeks to get monetized through Shorts, with just 10 videos. I did not steal videos from other people, I created my own videos. Shorts are easy to make, so why steal videos as a "strategy"? It's funny!

Yes, once you start getting views, you start uploading original videos and monetization is activated. At least that's what I've heard.

So many channels do this to get to 100k subscribers and after that they delete the videos and upload original content related to that same niche, so basically the subs are returning viewers and so you will still get views.

No—re-uploading others’ Shorts won’t get you into YPP. You’ll rack up Content ID claims/strikes, gain no long-form watch-time, and likely never hit the original-content requirement. Create your own Shorts from day one if you want a shot at monetization.

Just copying and pasting the plagiarized content won't work. You can incorporate other videos into your own original content. Of course, don't draw on it too obviously.
