Youtube: shorts vs long

Hello everyone,
I have a few YouTube channels and started pushing some shorts into them and getting some views on average around 5 to 10k per video and started gaining some subscribers, BUT when i publish a long video format i get 0 views maybe 1 or 10 views at best case !!! So i started thinking that it is not healthy for your YouTube channel to have both shorts and long if you are counting on Long format in the long run. I think maybe when you start getting subscribers from shorts and then you start publishing a long video format YouTube will try to promote the videos to the subscribers but they don't match as they are kinda shorts consumers and the algorithm will just consider your long video format as if not worth promotion [ any one think the same ??!! Or there is another explaination]

that's the classic shorts vs long form struggle! the algorithm treats them totally different. shorts viewers rarely convert to long form audiences. You can try this: keep shorts for growth but post long form consistently too, even if it flops at first. yt needs to learn you do both, maybe add some shorts teasing your long content to bridge the gap. btw your theory's right though, mixing both does confuse the algorithm initially.

I think the problem isnt just that Shorts viewers arent watching long video, it that the video content isnt reaching the long video audience or isnt being promoted properly. If a long video is good quality and meets the viewers intent, youtube will still recommend it

Yeah, I feel the same. Both are important in their own way. shorts help grab attention fast and are good for brand push. but long form videos bring more real engagement and keep people around longer. I think using shorts as kind of a teaser for long videos could help a lot. Still testing things myself, but seems like balancing both is the way to go.

Hello, my friend! In my opinion, short videos should serve as an invitation to your longer videos. However, we know that not everyone will be interested in watching long videos. The advantage of short videos is that if you manage to capture the viewer's attention and lead them to your long-form content, it can be a great way to grow your audience.
But if you’re unsure, test the algorithm: try posting only long videos for a month, then switch and post only shorts for a month. See if there’s any difference in performance. That way, you can decide whether it’s better to post both types of content or just focus on one.

Thank you for interacting with us, my friend! Every day, I create three short videos, each 1 minute and 50 seconds long, and I schedule them to go live 30 minutes before I publish a longer video, which usually lasts between 12 and 18 minutes. I post all of them at the same time every day.
One of my short videos reached 11,000 views, over 800 likes, and 50 comments. Meanwhile, the long videos have reached a maximum of 400 views, 8 comments, and 20 likes. It's only been three months since I started consistently creating videos, but I have no plans to stop. My goal is to reach monetization and help people find the light I’ve discovered each day.

Yes this is true, youtube will adapt your channel to short form content consumers if you have been uploading shorts content more than the long form content, and so what you can do is post long form content more consistently than the shorts content and once you have reached the 1k subs count, reduce the shorts uploads volume even more.

That's right, everything happens as you say, those who come from short videos will not watch long content, and vice versa.
