I'm looking for a domain registrar. I want to host a domain there that I'll only use for personal email. I don't plan to run a website with that domain. Is there anything that fits these conditions?

These are the requirements I have for a domain registrar.
  1. It must support DNSSEC without requiring a separate external DNS server. In other words, it should use the domain registrar's free DNS service that enables DNSSEC with a single click.
  2. All name servers must support IPv6. Name resolution must work without issues in IPv6-only environments. I live in Asia and am concerned about IPv4 address shortages in developing countries. For example, 1984.is has AAAA records only on some DNS servers, not on all DNS servers.
  3. No personal data whatsoever should be publicly visible in WHOIS. This includes the country and state/province where I reside. For example, Gandi meets requirements 1 and 2 mentioned above, but does not meet requirement 3. Gandi provides GDPR Redaction but does not offer WHOIS protection. GDPR Redaction still reveals the country and state.
  4. If possible, it should offer two-factor authentication via FIDO U2F. I'd settle for TOTP if needed.

  5. If possible, candidates should possess appropriate technical skills. Namecheap engineers lack the capability to comply with RFC 8624. I pointed this out to Namecheap support, but the representative was incompetent and didn't understand.

By the way, Njalla meets all these conditions. I'm currently using Njalla extensively. However, Njalla has notified me they're raising my domain price from 15 EUR to 30 EUR. That's quite expensive. Isn't there somewhere cheaper that provides the same service? If WHOIS privacy is maintained, I don't require complete anonymity like Njalla offers.

You can check out Cloudflare Registrar (great DNSSEC, full IPv6, and full WHOIS privacy) or Porkbun (DNSSEC, IPv6, free WHOIS privacy, and affordable). Cloudflare is very privacy-focused, Porkbun is simpler and cheaper.

Cloudflare also offers a lot of protection

Cloudflare is good, DNS is very reliable and whilst I haven’t used them for domain registration I’m sure that’s good as well.

I would suggest don’t over think it too much though because there will always be disadvantages to each setup but domain name registration and dns are pretty standard practices these days; any registrar will do a reasonable job at it and equally you could still have an issue no matter where you go, so it’s not worth over thinking it in my opinion.

From what I remember, Cloudflare should always make country codes and states publicly visible—has the specification changed now?

Cloudflare Registrar
Cloudflare will sell you any ICANN-approved TLD at their cost price, with no markup. Their built-in DNS and Registrar dashboard let you enable DNSSEC with a single toggle, and their Anycast name servers are IPv6-reachable everywhere. WHOIS privacy is enforced by Cloudflare proxying your contact data, so nothing of yours ever shows. On top of that, Cloudflare supports both TOTP and FIDO-U2F 2FA for your account.
  • DNSSEC: one-click enable via Cloudflare DNS
  • IPv6: full AAAA glue on all their global NS
  • Privacy: full WHOIS redaction, no country/state leak
  • 2FA: TOTP + U2F
  • Pricing: exactly the registry price (often $8–$12/year for .com, cheaper on many TLDs)
