Spoof Text help from phone carrier

Is there a way to get information about a person who sent a spoof text to me from an app, I forwarded message to 7726 to spam filter in hope of getting information of origin phone number they had to put into the text app to get spoofed number to send text. Has anyone had success in doing this or have a way to do this to gain knowledge of a person who is trying to stay anon?

Even if you have the information, you can't check it because those fake messages won't use their own identification information to register that phone number
Maybe they rented the phone number from another party
so we should be careful with strange numbers

would the spam filter for carrier not be able to see that original phone number they had to put into that app? I would assume there would have to be a trace of it somewhere. What if I had a phone number already? Is there a way to backdoor into their phone to check for messages?

there are carriers that can only verify that the phone number is a scam or a spoof
They can't verify exactly who it is
Because as I said above, spoofers often rent phone numbers from another party
those numbers were purchased a long time ago and have not been identified

There’s no DIY way to unmask a spoofed SMS. Only your carrier (via the 7726 report) or law enforcement—with a subpoena—can trace the true sender.
