Hi everyone, hope you’re all doing well and staying safe
I know there are already plenty of guides about how to create, grow, and post on TikTok to go viral. But I’ve seen quite a few people say you should NEVER upload videos from a computer, and I think that’s not entirely true. So I wanted to share a bit from my own experience.
Of course, TikTok is originally a mobile app, so creating accounts, warming them up, posting content, and engaging should ideally be done on a phone. Especially when it comes to registering new accounts. Personally, I always create accounts on my phone first, then log in on my computer later to manage them. Even liking and commenting feels more natural on the app because TikTok web limits comments to 150 characters, while the app does not have this limit and now you can even comment with images, something that the web version probably will not have anytime soon.
About uploading videos, the only noticeable difference is that when you upload from a computer, the “content under review” process can take longer than on mobile. But in terms of potential to go viral, I honestly think it’s the same. To give you an example, here’s what happened with one of my channels (which I stopped running early this year for personal reasons).
The first video that “went viral”, well, not millions of views but at least more than a few hundred, was actually uploaded from my computer using the antidetect browser Hidemyacc. My very first videos (242 views, 241 views, 380 views) were uploaded from my phone. Later, I logged into the same account on an antidetect browser to share access with someone else to help manage the channel (this person didn’t log in on mobile, only used the antidetect). One of the videos got 6,570 views, and it was uploaded directly using TikTok Studio on a computer. After that, I had several videos hit tens of thousands of views.
My first and only video to hit one million views was also uploaded from my computer, scheduled to post at exactly 7 PM. If you compare this with another video that got 188k views which I posted from my phone, you can see that uploading from a computer clearly did not hold it back.
In short, my point is if your content is good and fits your audience, it doesn’t really matter what device you use to upload. With quality content, factors like device, hashtags, or even posting time are secondary.
Sorry if my sharing is a bit messy, but I hope it helps someone out there. Thanks for reading!
